C'mon, what iPhone 3G user who actually takes full advantage of that 3G radio hasn't been disappointed with battery life at one point or another? And be honest, you're also disappointed with the downright naff battery extenders floating around out there. Granted, mophie's iPhone 3G Juice Pack isn't the most elegant thing in the entire world, but the "sled" design sure beats adding an unwanted appendage onto your handset. The device -- which is shipping today to those who pre-ordered early -- will reportedly provide up to 350 additional hours of standby, up to 6 hours of 3G talk time (or 12 hours on 2G), another 6 hours of web surfing and a 458% boost in overall happiness. Hell, you'd pay $99.95 just for the latter, now wouldn't you?
Sony Ericsson's W760a 3G Walkman now available on AT&T
It's been a long time coming (isn't it always with Sony Ericsson and AT&T?), but the January-announced W760 Walkman slider is finally hitting the US on contract. Announced today, the shakeable W760a will be available in AT&T locations, bringing with it 3G support, a 3.2-megapixel camera, AT&T Navigator and "full HTML web browsing." In case you haven't seen already, it'll be available in red, black and silver motifs, with the latter hue being exclusive to RadioShack for a limited time. Check it as early as today for $129.99 (with a 2-year agreement) after mail-in rebate.
HTC not bringing Touch HD to the States

[Via WMExperts, thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Update: We've received official word from HTC that they've been really overwhelmed by the "strong" demand for the HD in the States and other markets where no launch has been planned (with that insane display, it seemed like a no-brainer to us!). Sadly, due to the engineering time required to get a North American 3G version in the pipeline, they say they're better off just waiting until the next round of products launches -- hopefully with some extra bands in the radio this time, eh?

HTC's US Touch Diamond now shipping from Best Buy
It's no shock to see a US 3G-enabled Touch Diamond showing up at Best Buy (unlike the hamstrung sibling over at CompUSA) -- though we can't say we were expecting the big box retailer to start shipping this soon. If its website is to be believed (read: don't book it just yet), the unlocked Touch Diamond 3G you're about to order for $699.99 will leave Best Buy's warehouse within one business day. If that's not cool with you, you can also pick it up "at most stores." Shame there's no white option listed...

HTC Touch Pro now available in UK
Vodafone expected the Touch Pro to touch down in the UK this month, and sure enough, said expectation has become a reality. HTC's mighty WinMo-powered smartphone is now available from official UK distributor devicewire, and if you just so happen to use pounds as your primary currency, you can claim one of your own for the eye-popping price of £514.99 (including VAT). We won't bother converting that into dollars -- trust us, you're better off pretending you don't know.

Sprint's Airave signal booster goes on sale nationwide
Just as July began, we heard that Sprint would finally begin shipping its Airave signal booster nationwide before the month ended. It cut things close, but we can't deny that the rumor proved true. Starting right now, Sprint users with horrendous service in their own homes can begrudgingly cough up $99.99 to have the base station sent directly to you. From there, you'll have to throw down $4.99 per month for extending your coverage but still using your plan minutes, $10 per month if you're looking to make unlimited calls (through the Airave) with a single Sprint phone or $20 per month for unlimited calling for multiple lines. Critics have already harshed on the $50 increase in price from when it launched in Denver and Indy last year, not to mention the relatively high monthly fees, but we suppose you can take it or leave it depending on how regularly you drop calls from your couch. Oh, and don't even think of using this overseas -- the required GPS module makes sure you're in the US before enabling calls.[Via PhoneScoop]
Update: Sprint pinged us to say the official "on sale date" is August 17, 2008.
Nokia's North American E71 now available at Chicago flagship store
Call it a hunch, but you shouldn't have to wait too awfully long (like, hours / days / weeks) to secure Nokia's North American E71 today. Said handset is now available at the company's flagship store in Chicago, complete with a QWERTY keyboard and US-friendly 3G. Eager to grab one? Total cost will be $483 (plus tax) in addition to a roundtrip ticket to Chi-town, considering the store won't ship to out-of-towners (or so we hear).

Palm's Treo 800w being received, hands-on pics to prove it
Last we knew, a 436-page Treo 800w manual popped up from deep within the confines of Sprint. Fast forward a few days, and a few diehards are already trumpeting the receipt of their precious new Palm. Yep, that handset you see above is indeed the 800w, and if you care to ask some early adopters how things are going, feel free to hit the read link and surf on over to the forums.
HTC ships first batch of Touch Diamond handsets
DigiTimes has it that HTC has already shipped its first batch of over 10,000 Touch Diamond mobiles to Hong Kong CSL, which has consequently sent our saliva glands into overdrive. The report continues on to say that deliveries to European / Asia-Pacific operators should get going in June, though no further details were mentioned. Meanwhile, North Americans are left to weep softly to keep from embarrassment.

AT&T ships out box packed with one bag, limitless hilarity
A colleague over at TUAW took advantage of AT&T's recent aggressive pricing on refurb iPhones, but got a whole heck of a lot more than he bargained for. First, he was shipped two identical units, which would've been cool and all if he'd been charged for only one -- but he wasn't. The next day, he got a third box from AT&T; this is about the time that we'd start freaking out that some weird glitch had caused them to send us and charge us for every refurb iPhone currently in their inventory, but it turns out this magical third parcel contained nothing more than a bag and a packing slip that read "75011 MISC iPhone PPA BAG ... $0.00". This brings a smile to our faces for several reasons: one, this means that somewhere in a dark, tall, windowless AT&T building, a mainframe computer contains an inventory code for a freakin' plastic bag. Two, that same mainframe allowed one of these bags to be shipped out with nothing in it. Three, a human being at AT&T very likely had to pack and ship this bundle of joy by hand. Good stuff, and a killer value at just $0.00. Where do we sign up?
Samsung ships 3G-enabled SGH-J750
Remember Samsung's SGH-J750 that we spotted months ago while perusing the always intriguing depths of the FCC's website? Even if not, Sammy is announcing that the no fills handset is indeed shipping now, and its standout feature is (unsurprisingly) the 3G-enabling Broadcom BCM59001 PMU SoC tucked within. 'Course, this wouldn't be a lower-end cellphone without a totally average 220 x 176 resolution display, completely mediocre 8MB of internal memory and a blatant lack of WiFi. Granted, the unit reportedly sports tri-band GSM connectivity, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a microSD expansion slot, 1.3-megapixel camera, 3-hours of talk time (300-hours in standby) and an integrated music player, but nobody's jumping for joy after reading that, right? Mum's the word on price / availability, but look for it to slide in quietly here in the not-too-distant future.[Via Slashphone]
HTC's P5500 'Nike' slated for September launch?
Although the most recent hunch about a handset release did indeed prove true, we're not so sure about these HTC claims. DigiTimes has it that High Tech Computer is "expected to launch its second touchscreen-controlled smartphone supporting a 3.5G standard perhaps as soon as September," and while it didn't confirm, the site did insinuate that the mobile in question is the P5500 "Nike." Additionally, the rumors suggested that the phone will be "built using a CPU from Samsung and chipsets from Qualcomm," while also supporting W-CDMA. Of note, these same "sources" claimed that a device codenamed Vogue would be hitting North, Central, and South American shores, and we certainly can't find any room to argue with that.[Via TheUnwired]
Xda terra becomes first WM6 Pro device to ship
Just over a month ago, O2 Germany came clean and announced the future availability of the Xda terra, and now the carrier will forever hold the crown of being the first major provider to offer up and ship a Windows Mobile 6 Professional handset. Sure enough, O2's Germany webstore proudly displays the dashing mobile, lists the specs that you've already memorized, and mentions that it now includes a two-megapixel camera to boot. Of course, being first in line always comes at a premium, and from what we can gather through the (admittedly sketchy) translation, the lowest price point you'll be reaching is €279.99 ($382) bundled with a contract. Additionally, O2 lists the handset sans agreement for a stiff €519.99 ($710), but it looks like those will only be available from retail locations -- decisions, decisions.

100 millionth Symbian smartphone ships
Break out the bubbly, it's party time! If you're a little software outfit by the name of Symbian, that is -- or Nokia, Sony Ericsson, or any other of Symbian's ten active licensees. The British company has announced that the 100 millionth phone running its goodies has shipped, 36 million of which have come in 2006 alone. If we were the betting type, we'd put our money on that 100 millionth handset being a Nokia piece seeing how their particular flavor of Symbian -- S60 -- accounts for an overwhelming majority of Symbian-powered devices finding their way into consumers' hands, but as we've seen, Sony Ericsson isn't about to give up on UIQ. Either way, Symbian's celebrating the occasion with their "Because of the Code" contest, which'll award 100 smartphones and other miscellaneous parting gifts to the best code samples submitted by January 7; meanwhile, non-developers can get in on the fun with the "Symbian Hundred Million Phones" quiz, offering handsets to another three folks randomly selected from the pool of those answering all the questions correctly. Here's to another 100 million, Symbian![Thanks, Wimbo]
Nokia N93 ships stateside
Our enthusiasm for Nokia's biggie-sized N93 smartphone has died down a bit on news of 1) the N95 that somehow manages to outdo it spec-for-spec, and 2) the N75, which gives us long-overdue UMTS 850 / 1900 on a S60 device. Nonetheless, Nokia USA is looking to see if it can't push a couple of the 3.2-megapixel video cameras (that just happen to have a phone built in) out the door alongside the E70. At $700 unlocked, S60 3rd Edition dominance isn't cheap, but the N93 fits the bill when you absolutely, positively must have the biggest flip phone in the room -- just be prepared to come up a bit short on reception, seeing how it lacks GSM 850.
