We were still kinda settling in with the businesslike E65 slider, a phone that feels like it just found its way into widespread commercial availability a few months back. Ah, that's because it did! No bother, though; time marches mercilessly on, and Nokia's apparently getting ready for the inevitable future with this here piece coined "Dora." We know this from the same endless barrage of Vodafone leaks that have plagued the carrier today, and we're sensing some common themes: like several others in the mix, this one features 3.6Mbps HSDPA, GPS, and WiFi. The camera is up from 2 megapixels to 3.2, and we're a tad skeptical on this one, but the slide claims that we can expect a 320 x 320 display which would be an improvement over the E65's 320 x 240. This one's expected on Voda next quarter for £280 (about $554).

Following in the footsteps of other manufacturers, Nokia has raided the proverbial crayon box and released new shades for the E61i and E65. First up, the E61i gets painted a rich "Titanium Black" color -- possibly the nicest looking color on the QWERTY smartphone -- and the E65 gets redone in both pink and plum colors. There's no sign that the new shades will be coming stateside anytime soon, but they should be easy enough to import.

Americans looking for a little piece of the Nokia Eseries pie just had their task made a little easier today, with Nokia announcing that the QWERTY equipped E61i and E65 slider have been officially released this side of the pond. Besides showing up in the Chicago and New York flagship stores, the devices will be provided through a handful of B2B distributors, Dell's site, Gateway, Mobile Planet, and others. We're still crossing fingers, toes, and a variety of other limbs in the hopes of an eventual E90 release here, but these two are certainly decent fodder in the meanwhile. Look for both to run about $400.

They're not quite like Mom used to make, but the recipes posted at Howard Forums are almost as tasty; with a few tools, some stylin' gloves, and a little patience, you too can rip apart and reassemble your Nokia E65. This might not be something you want to try at home -- after all, several parts will need replacing after you take it apart -- but if your warranty has expired, this just might be the ticket. Mobile phone fanatics never cease to amaze with the amount of effort they put in for the community, but we love to see them tearing stuff to shreds only to assemble it again. We knew they were coming and now, finally, Nokia went and blessed their quad-band GSM / UMTS / WiFi totin' E61i and E65 official. The E65 is the first slider to drop as an E-series business device. Although the styling is a bit flash for an E, this slider is designed with suits in mind so it'll integrate just fine with your corporate telephony system. The E61i (pictured) also integrates with your corporate email system -- as you'd expect from QWERTY-based E -- and adds a 2 megpapixel camera to the mix as well as an enhanced keyboard which includes new NAVI and "One Touch" keys. Both the E65 and E61i feature Nokia's new Intellisync Mobile Suite 8.0 platform which, according to Nokia, allows businesses to "achieve new levels of productivity and competitive advantage." We'll just have to wait and see about that. The E65 is already available in select markets while the E61i won't pop until Q2 -- both S60 devices will demand an unsubsidized price of about €400. We said it before and we'll say it again, we would like our phones to work and this incessant teasing is beginning to wear our patience. Another Nokia E65 has appeared on eBay and there isn't a question about it being fake, however what is interesting is the color combination we are seeing. Finland's finest decided to put out the phone in a matte black and a textured brown color. We're becoming quite partial to the new brown color we see, now only if we could get our hands on it.

Where we come from, we like our phones to -- how should we say this -- work. Readers feeling the same way shouldn't get too excited here, but those just looking for a little pocket candy might head on over to eBay where E65 dummies are starting to show up ahead of a probable 3GSM announcement in Barcelona next month. Pictures of the dummy confirm that it's a business-oriented S60 slider, though the red accent here gives it a little flair that a previous prototype was lacking. With a 2 megapixel cam, UMTS 2100, and WiFi -- in the real phone, of course -- this thing should do a decent job shoring up Nokia's smartphone slider lineup alongside the N80.

Okay, so it didn't quite make yesterday's version of FCC Fridays, but Nokia's business-friendly E65 has just made the rounds through the FCC, which means the final frontier for this E-series slider is closer than ever before. While we're still not sure if (or who) here in the States would be willing to pick this one up, especially considering the lack of a North American 3G band, we're not giving up on faith just yet. Nevertheless, it seems this corporate gem just might hit streets a bit sooner than anticipated, so make sure you've got your microSD card and about €340 ($440) of liquidated assets ready to go at a moment's notice.

Nokia's business-friendly (but not necessarily uptight) Eseries has yet to pay host to a slider, which is kinda strange considering the overwhelming goodness of the N80 and the soon-to-be-goodness of the N95. No worries -- Finland's favorite phone company looks ready to right its wrongs with the 16-millimeter thick E65. The S60 3rd Edition smartphone rocks a full assortment of connectivity options, ranging from IrDA and Bluetooth to UMTS and WiFi, though HSDPA is a no-show (as is any trace of a North American 3G band). The cam clocks in at a respectable 2 megapixels, which we think is about right for a circa-2007 corporate smartphone, and the microSD slot will come in handy when it's time to supplement the 70MB of internal storage. If the details all pan out, look for this one to drop midyear for about €340 ($450, give or take).

We'd already seen some shots slip of what we'd then identified as the E62i, but thanks to sharp eyes over at All About Symbian poring over Nokia's user agent profile list, it sounds like the E61 / E62's successor may ultimately come to be known simply as the E61i. That little tidbit of information isn't terribly interesting in and of itself -- they can call it "Espoo" for all we care -- but the profiles also reveal a few key specs that the Nokia (and QWERTY) fanboys among us will be happy to hear. First up, the E61i will come in two variants, one with 3G data and one without, suggesting that the latter might succeed the E62 in American markets while the former will carry the torch in Europe. It'll also make a switch from miniSD to microSD expansion and add a camera -- possibly bad news for those corporate suit types whose business don't allow shutterbugs on the premises. Also revealed is the E65, a phone we've never seen, though All About Symbian suggests it may be a slider (a la N80). Specs include a QVGA display, 3G data, microSD expansion, WiFi, and a camera. Neither phone is listed as running Nokia's latest S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 (which seems odd for any new S60 goodies in the pipeline) which means that A2DP probably isn't in the cards and the aforementioned 3G radios will likely top out with UMTS, not HSDPA. Be that as it may, we're not going to draw any premature conclusions and let rampant speculation get the best of us, but the sooner you could officially reveal these, the better -- mkay, Nokia?
