Colorware expectedly busts out the paint buckets for RIM's BlackBerry Bold

Colorware is at it again -- stealing taking money from folks who just can't be satisfied with the stock color option(s). RIM's BlackBerry Bold is the next major handset to get the colorific treatment, with a fully customized unit running just $174 over the handset's base price. We'd typically encourage any and all of you to order up the above pictured combination in support of the Wolfpack, but given the recent performance on the field, feel free to just back your own alma mater.

Sprint readying a red HTC Touch Diamond?

We won't even front with you -- we have some serious doubts about this one, but with all those other red handsets that have emerged on Sprint over the years, we suppose that image above has a sliver of credence. We've no details whatever outside of two more shots of the red HTC Touch Diamond (or Victor, to be proper) in the read link, but these could very well be someone's best shot at using Photoshop to gain 15 minutes of internet fame. What say you, dear readers? Real or fake?

Samsung's i900 Omnia spotted with white battery cover

We can't really vituperate the i900 Omnia's standard looks, but we must say, this thing looks striking in white. Yeah, it's only the back panel (read: battery cover) getting the makeover, but word on the street has it that this thing will actually be offered in white (with the obligatory wavy pattern) in at least some regions of the world. So, what say you? Is this the model that now has your eye? Or does the original still do it for you?

The iPhone 3G, now in... whatever you want

Colorware is now offering its usual array of services applied to the iPhone 3G, and we're happy to report that this abomination is a full $190 away from existing.

Samsung a737 about to get spectrum'd for AT&T

It's crazy enough that AT&T offers Samsung's a737 slider in four wild colors -- red, lime, orange, and blue -- but apparently, that's not nearly enough. Who knew? We've heard that the phone is about to get done up in hot pink, electric blue, white, and purple, so just sit tight if you like the phone but didn't like (inexplicably, may we add) any of the current color choices.

Neonode maximizes hype, promises "details" on four new N2 colors in March

The N2 is a pretty funky fresh device to begin with, so it only makes sense that its buyers might like a palette to choose from. Indeed, the company is planning on rolling out four new colors for its diminutive smartphone, but if you think they're telling us what those colors are, think again -- they've only released PR stating that "details" on the colors will be announced next month. If we had to take a stab at it, we'd say that two of the four will be green and pink (albeit with fancier names, probably) since we saw them on display at CES, but the other two are anybody's guess. Personally, we'd like a nice shade of North American 3G; maybe we're asking a bit much.

Nokia N95 8GB, now in "copper"?

Nokia has historically had a tendency to release new colors of existing phones without much of an official announcement, and we could be dealing with that sitch again here. Retailer Plemix is now offering the N95 8GB in the black that we're all accustomed to along with a new shade -- copper -- that runs a few dollars more than the original. Hey, you've gotta pay to play, right? We're hearing that the copper version maintains the black front end, which would be inline with the original N95's tendency to sport silver up front regardless of what's going on around back. If anyone gets one of these copper suckers in their hands, do let us know, won't you?

Sony Ericsson plays color by number with the K770i

Seems new color additions are all the rage chez Sony Ericsson these days, yesterday we heard whispering about the K850 getting a new housing color and today we see the K770i get its turn. The two new colors are called Henna Brown (pictured above) and Soft Black. No word on when we can expect these to land in retail, but it can't be too far off. Follow the read link for a pile of pictures.

HTC Touch gets more memory, new color options

Same HTC Touch we all know and love but now HTC's thrown down a couple new color choices and beefed up the memory. Word has it that the new color choices -- The plum and white handsets above -- will initially only be in Asia, but we know that they'll eventually find a way to sneak on over. Memory gets a bump from the current 128 and 64 MB ROM / RAM to a more reasonable 256 and 128 MB -- which may help speed it up a wee bit. They're apparently shipping now and will just slot into existing stock, so if you were waffling on picking one up, we'd suggest you wait.

AT&T logo going orange

Sheesh, as if the whole Cingular / AT&T / BellSouth / etc. mishmash hasn't been confusing enough for the general populace, here comes yet another change sure to make folks scratch their noggins a bit more. As AT&T looks to launch a new ad campaign that gloats about "Your Seamless World," the carrier will reportedly paint the blue and white globe orange as a "respectful nod to Cingular." Meanwhile, sign changers are thrilled about all the business pouring in from AT&T recently...

LG enV gets tough in olive drab

So much for any color approaching normalcy, apparently! Following the original pedestrian scheme of silver and black and its wacky, wild bright orange cousin, Verizon and LG are apparently prepping a dark green VX9900 enV that looks fit to take on a textual sortie or two. No word on a release date yet, but frankly, we're not too worked up about it.

Scottish researchers reveal cameraphone-enabled 'invisible art'

Granted, we've already seen what wild colors can hide behind a shutter, but now a team of Scottish researchers are hoping to "bridge the virtual and real worlds" by applying invisible artwork to buildings around Edinburgh. Put simply, users who snap pictures of landmarks and MMS them back to the database can receive "an image with extras added to it." Dubbed Spellbinder, the invisible graffiti project uses image-matching algorithms to analyze the image and send back tagged snapshots of the location a user just photographed. Additionally, location projects and "virtual games" are also being looked into, which should thoroughly please both the social networking fanboys and hide-and-seek lovers alike.

LG Shine red variant peeped

We usually tank posts on new handset colors – yes, folks, we do listen when you yell and cry out – but we're so fond of LG's Shine, that we couldn't resist this time. No reason to think they've packed any new goodies under the hood here, we're thinking it's purely a cosmetic refresh on an otherwise excellent handset. We do, however, wonder why the new palette didn't get applied to the entire handset, but are fairly sure it will find some admirers out there who appreciate the red gift-wrapping. No word on if a non-Korean version will land on our shores, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled.

Motorola's KRZR K1 to get snazzy new colors?

Ah, there's nothing like adding functionality additional color schemes to a cellphone in order to generate more sales, and nobody's better at getting it done than Moto. While the KRZR had plenty of hype backing it, it hasn't been around quite long enough to get Motorola's oh-so-typical color-changing treatment (a dash of white notwithstanding), but that's apparently about to change. While details aren't certain just yet, it looks like the company may have two new variants coming down the pike for "Q4 2006" (just in time for the holidays?), but all specs should remain exactly as they current are. Purportedly aiming to hit the market in both black and "silver quartz," the newfangled KRZRs are actually fairly mild considering some of the variations we've seen, but we all know that lime green, fairly tale pink, and candy apple red are (probably) waiting just around the corner.

Real pics emerge of the VX8500's spectrum

Ever wonder what a metallic, phlegm-green LG Chocolate might look like? Well, wonder no longer. We've managed to score press photos for Verizon's VX8500 in all three of its new colors, and although it's difficult to argue the hotness of the white and red varieties, the green just is not doing anything for us. Ah, well; vive la variété, eh? Look for the new shades to drop any day now.
