Mark/Space offers up Missing Sync beta for S60 / UIQ devices

Mark/Space's Missing Sync -- an OS X lovers best friend -- has just loosed the Symbian Public Preview for all who dare to download. Currently, the build stands at v1.0.0 (028 Preview), which suggests that there are quite a few bugs just waiting to be discovered. Still, those handling S60 / UIQ-based mobiles can certainly give it a go and see just how effective it is at syncing information between your Mac and that beloved handset. Chime in below with any overly dramatic success / failure stories.

Skype coming for UIQ 3?

If you believe everything you read, then the long-rumored Skype for UIQ may well be en route. Sony Ericsson's recently announced P1 may have let the Skype out of the bag with its whitepaper mention of "Skype – Voice over IP application that lets the user make mobile phone calls over the Internet." While this could be a typo, we're thinking (and hoping) that an announcement may be just around then bend. If you are in the know and can help debunk or substantiate the rumor, drop us a line.

Sony Ericsson's P990i gains FCC approval

Announced way back in October, that Sony Ericsson P990i just got tagged with the FCC's good housekeeping seal of approval. With that out of the way, we might actually see this tri-band GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 with UMTS (2100) handset with Symbian OS 9.1 / UIQ 3 Stateside sometime in Q1, Q2, Q3 after the 2100MHz spectrum comes off the auction block and into the greedy little hands of your fave (or not so fave) wireless provider. And with a 2.8-inch touchscreen, 802.11b WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, 2 megapixel cam, media player, QWERTY keypad, and suite of corporate email connectivity options, well, we're guessing that even with all the delays, you might still care.
