Spyker growing line with four new devices in 2009

Since the Dutch car maker's entry into the cellular handset biz in 2007 we've seen a decent pile of sets, though nothing close to a real flagship product. We've heard about two of this year's entries -- including the interesting touch set top right -- but lacked specs and pics on the others. At the top left is the 3G entry with forward and rear-facing cameras, quad-band GSM, HSUPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a somewhat familiar keyboard design. The touchscreen and touchpad set may only be loaded with triple-band GPRS / EDGE connectivity but does have Bluetooth, a 3 megapixel shooter, and our condolences that it didn't get the 3G. The other two are simple sliding affairs with the device on the left sporting a dual-SIM setup, a 2 megapixel cam, and its twin on the right notably made of aluminum. Spyker prepping two new models for MWC?

Looks like Spyker's enjoying its little foray into the cellphone biz with new rumors flying that there'll be two all-new models graced with the Dutch automaker's name at MWC later this month. There's a boring midrange slider that looks like it fell out of a trash can in Samsung's design lab, but the more interesting of the two is the pictured EG200 -- an ultra-slim slider featuring a touchpad in place of the traditional d-pad. Not a lot of specs to go on at this point, but we can apparently expect a 2 megapixel cam on this one when it launches -- and if it's any consolation, we can guarantee it'll be a few bucks less than a street-legal C8.

Something old, something new: Spyker brings two models to CeBIT

We don't know what it is with boutique brands picking up year-old Haiers and passing them off as new wares, but it's a trend that appears to be picking up some steam. Spyker, the Dutch auto manufacturer, got into the phone branding game last year and is set to roll out a pair of new midrange models at CeBIT this week. The first model, LaTurby, has a name that's extremely fun to say (seriously, give it a try) -- but that's about all that's notable about it seeing how it's the Haier Sterling we saw last year with 1GB of internal storage, Bluetooth, and a 2 megapixel cam. The metal MonteCarlo slider looks a bit more interesting -- and more importantly, fresh -- and should have specs roughly in line with its more amusingly-named sib. No word on pricing or availability for these yet, but needless to say, we're thinking they'll be both cheaper and easier to obtain than a Spyker automobile.

Spyker rolls out three handsets and joins cellphone biz

Spyker, Dutch maker of fine performance wheels -- and owners of one of Formula 1's newest teams -- has rolled out a line of branded handsets. The -- pictured from top left -- C8 Spyder ($560), C8 Laviolette ($425), and C8 Laturbie($285) should help Spyker keep up with the Joneses in the automaker as cell phone manufacturer world. The Spyder and Laviolette are both dual band 900 / 1800 MHz jobbies with mostly unremarkable features like 1.3 megapixel cameras, 128 x 160 TFT screens, finished in black and silver. The Laturbie brings some tri-band action, a QVGA screen, same 1.3 megapixel cam, and gets dressed in glossy red. Interesting note is the keypads all seem to sport Chinese characters, so it doesn't take many guesses to figure out where they're bound.
