LG Chocolate Touch and Samsung Omnia 2 slated for August 23rd, according to supposed Best Buy leak

If this screen capture to be believed, August 23rd is gearing up to be one helluva day for phone lovers. According to this snapshot from Best Buy's computers, that's when LG's desirable BL40 Chocolate Touch will be making its way into the consumer world, alongside a red Xenon and a bevy of Samsung phones including Omnia 2, Rogue, and Solstice. No clue on what the Tour is doing up there dated for the 23rd, since it's already out on both Verizon and Sprint, but perhaps a major shipment is in the works. As for that M330 for September 8th? Yeah, we're not sure. Surrounding that tantalizing list from the top and bottom, respectively, are Samsung's eco-conscious Reclaim -- presumably listed for August 16th, although the date is obscured -- and a red and black "G2" from august 5th, which would undoubtedly be referring to T-Mobile's sophomore Android device, the myTouch 3G. Two weeks seem awfully close, but if this pans out, we certainly won't be arguing.

Sprint getting orange BlackBerry Curve 8330, red 8350i

All eyes are on the Tour right now as far as the BlackBerry ecosystem on Sprint goes, but we might remind you that there are still several other RIM-supplied models in the company's lineup, including the 8330 and the iDEN-capable 8350i. If anything can divert even a scant few eyeballs away from that Tour, it might be some truly insane colors -- and that appears to be what Sprint has in the works. Launch documents over on BerryReview have an "Inferno Orange" 8330 soft launching today with a red 8350i following on at the end of the month. We don't know what shade of red to expect out of that 8350i -- which is typically a straight-up business phone, by the bye -- but we wouldn't be surprised if the 8330 took a page out of T-Mobile's Sunset playbook. Whether that's a good thing or not... well, that remains to be seen.

Boost Mobile repaints Motorola Stature i9 in red

Boost Mobile's i9 stands head and shoulders above the rest of the carrier's line as its clear-cut hero device, but there's a problem -- the launch color, kind of a dark bronze, was a little bland. That's not cool for an iDEN flip this far up into the rare air, is it? Of course not, so we're glad to see that they've partnered up with Moto to bring out the so-called Stature in a second (more fitting) color, red. It's available now for exactly the same price as the original that's been available since February, $299.99.

Red LG Lotus in stock with Sprint for $49.99

There's all sorts of good news going on here: first of all, the third Lotus color, red, is now officially available at retail from Sprint, making good on the carrier's promise of mid-April availability. Second, in case you haven't noticed, the $99.99 price tag has dropped all the way down to $49.99 on contract after discounts, making the fattest, stubbiest flip in Sprint's lineup more affordable than ever. Dig in, you texters, you.

Sprint's LG Lotus back for round three in red

It's not available just yet, but Sprint has released a fact sheet for a third color of its unusual Lotus clamshell -- this time in red. Like the purple version, this one features a stylized cover (less flashy folk might consider sticking with the unstyled matte black model), but otherwise, all the specs carry over. If our leaks on this one have been accurate, we can expect this bad boy mid-April -- likely for the same price on contract after rebate as its siblings, which would peg it for $99.99.

Samsung M810, red LG Lotus found in Sprint's playbook?

We can't really be sure this is really a page from Sprint's playbook or something craftier, but according to the above screengrab, the carrier's set to launch the Samsung M810 / Instinct Mini in Graphite and Bronze colors on April 15th for partner Birghtpoint and then 19th for everyone else for $450, which matches up quite nicely with some earlier reports from Boy Genius Report. For those wanting something more familiar, the document also notes the LG Lotus is getting a new red paintjob and will be happy to show us on the 15th / 19th of next month, respectively. Fans of the rojo phone'll be glad to know it'll reportedly be keeping the current $300 price tag.

Nokia E55 blushes red for the camera

We doubt you need a translation to figure out what's going on here, but to summarize: the crew at mobile@mail.ru managed to get what they're saying is an exclusive hands-on with a red Nokia E55. Nokia E71 looking better than ever in red and all-black

Nokia's not pulling any punches about the fact that its seemingly business-oriented E71 serves double duty as one of the sexiest QWERTY devices ever to see retail, showing it off in two gorgeous new schemes: chrome / red and solid black. We've seen these before, but never in any official capacity; now that Nokia Europe's website has 'em in all their shiny glory, that seems to be a good sign that we'll be able to whip out our credit cards eventually. RIM, what do you say: an 8900 in red? Please?

We won't even front with you -- we have some serious doubts about this one, but with all those other red handsets that have emerged on Sprint over the years, we suppose that image above has a sliver of credence. We've no details whatever outside of two more shots of the red HTC Touch Diamond (or Victor, to be proper) in the read link, but these could very well be someone's best shot at using Photoshop to gain 15 minutes of internet fame. What say you, dear readers? Real or fake?

Sony Ericsson W580i for AT&T, now with more red

Come on, now, Sony Ericsson, you know what happens when you make too many colors of the same damn phone. The W580i was a serviceable midrange Walkman handset in its heyday, but without 3G, it's pretty hard to justify the $99 after contract and rebate that AT&T is asking for the thing in its latest shade -- a nice, shiny red. Ironically, the 3G-equipped Z750a is a solid $50 less, so yeah, we're really not seeing where AT&T is going with this. To be fair, $99 is the same price being asked for every color of the W580i (and there are many at this point), but shouldn't they be using this golden opportunity to lower prices across the board to somewhere within the realm of reason and logic?

Sprint launching Treo 800w, red Curve on July 13?

Inventory paperwork coming out of Sprint suggests that the launch date for the Treo 800w has actually moved up about a week from the last rumor, pegging general availability of the latest Palm kit for July 13. That will likely beat Verizon's launch -- just as Sprint did with the Centro -- and position it for the rather unenviable task of trying to score some modicum of fanfare in the midst of Apple's July 11 iPhone 3G onslaught. It's hard to argue that these two are competing for the same target audience, but even so, it seems like there's a healthy buffer around the 11th that most carriers are going to want to avoid for launching important devices (as any Treo inevitably is, no matter how lukewarm the styling may be).

Also notable on the inventory sheet is a mention of a red BlackBerry Curve launching on the same day, giving chronic emailers an option that's just a little more playful than the titanium trim currently available. Two devices from legendary lineages renowned for the quality of their keyboards launching on the same carrier on the same day? Yeah, no complaints here.

LG Viewty, now in red

If the first thought on your mind when you saw the pink Viewty was, "man, I wish that came in a darker shade of pink," have a gander at this puppy. LG's 5 megapixel touchscreen masterpiece has reemerged in yet another color -- a straight-up red this time around, where it'll see introduction in Ukraine later this month. That's great, LG, but let's not milk this one too much longer, pretty please? The way we see it, you've got more important phones to recolor these days.

Sidekick Slide turning red for round 2?

Boy Genius Report is reporting (it is the Boy Genius Report, after all) that the Motorola-sourced Sidekick Slide will be getting a second variation on T-Mobile come late May or early June, this time around in a lovely shade of red to compliment the same glossy black shell as the original. We can see how the purple might be a bit intense for some folks, so red should be a decent alternative; we don't think the picture's real here, but it gets the point across. With the iD out of the picture, it seems like T-Mobile has some ramping up to do in the palette department -- and really, how much longer can we go without a Dwayne Wade LX?

Red Nokia N95 for North America now available

Personally, we're holding out for the more lustworthy US variant of the N95 8GB -- but for some, we imagine a reddened original N95 is just what the doctor ordered. With no fanfare whatsoever, the handset is now available alongside its black and bronze cousins for the same $699 -- not the $599 we were promised when we spotted the sucker at CES last month, but then again, we weren't necessarily expecting it quite this early in the year, either. Maybe we'll see the price drop when the US N95 8GB ships?
