Is the Sony Ericsson P3i real? MSN China seems to think so

Does that little thumbnail of a ridiculous looking Sony Ericsson look familiar? Yep, it's that rumored P3i from back in the day that we'd chalked up as a probable fake. This screen shot allegedly comes from an MSN China page, listing the P3i as a model in Sony Ericsson's stable -- bizarre white / purple color combo and all. The model number would lead us to believe that this is a step up from the P1i, and although it's obviously a UIQ-equipped device if it's real, we're not really seeing how it's a clear-cut upgrade. Anyway, as far as we're concerned, this whole page could be fake, MSN China could've just picked an old P3i spy shot off the web, or maybe -- just maybe -- it's real. In that case, we'll wait for the P5i, thanks.

Could mystery handset on Sony Ericsson page be P3i?

We love when handsets pop up in places they aren't supposed to, and Sony Ericsson happens to have done just that with the handset outlined in red in the pic above. Nothing is known about the phone pictured -- or if it isn't just a placeholder or other error -- but some speculate that it may be the rumored P3i. While the image is a bit dodgy, it appears that it sports some type of joystick-like d-pad and seems thick enough to be a slider. We've absolutely no idea when or if this handset will be announced, but be sure we'll fill in the blanks as soon as we're able.

Pics of a pretty fake looking Sony Ericsson "P3i"

The temptation to flood the 'nets with fake imagery can be a strong one indeed. Maybe it's the fame, maybe it's the hope that a manufacturer will see the pictures and say "gee, we should be making this," maybe it's the desire to fleece enthusiasts. Remember that silly Ai fake from a while back? On that note, we present this here pic of what we're supposed to believe is an upcoming Sony Ericsson "P3i." To put it lightly, we're not so sure we buy it. For starters, the color scheme is hideous, the edges look really weird, and we're not sure Sony Ericsson would be interested in upstaging its freshly-announced flagship P1 so quickly -- especially with a model that seems no better at a glance. For what it's worth, though, the alleged device has a QVGA touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel autofocus cam, WiFi, and triband GSM plus HSDPA. We'll believe this purple-keyed wonder when we hear it straight from the horse's mouth.
