Bellperre Nero Gold looks kitchy in various expensive critter hides

Nice - or something -- to see a Windows Mobile device getting the Midas touch, and Bellperre gives us just that in the Nero Gold. Finished in leather from your choices of shark, lizard, buffalo, or even alligator, gold accents, and with black brushed steel filling in all the other holes in this otherwise fairly brick-like affair. The Nero Gold is apparently a tri-band GSM device with a 2-inch display, the usual Windows Mobile push mail and office apps, and a tough as nails scratch resistant sapphire crystal screen. Want one? Yeah, neither do we, but if you'd like to see how the other half lives, hop on over to the Bellperre site and have a look see. Oh, and no word on pricing, but as the saying goes, if you have to ask, you can't afford.

Bellperre adds "Silver and Golden" collection to capitalize on booming economy

Remember Bellperre? Don't feel bad, we had to refresh our memory, too -- but it turns out these guys have a new "customizable Silver and Golden" collection that's available in any color of exotic leather you like. Pink crocodile? No problem. Blue buffalo? Just say the word. Oh, and bring a few grand while you're at it, because these suckers are just about the most expensive Windows Mobile Standard candybars you'll ever come across.

Bellperre announces new luxury handset line

We have to admit, we're pretty shocked that the world can support as many boutique, luxury handset manufacturers as it does; Vertu gets the lion's share of the attention and has the support of parent Nokia, but companies like Mobiado and Bellperre are fending for themselves -- and apparently doing a pretty good job of it, considering that Bellperre is releasing its second model and Mobiado... well, those guys have their own freaking fragrance. Anyway, we don't have a spec sheet for Bellperre's latest candybar, but we can tell you that it's hand-built in the Netherlands and will be available in a variety of sticker shock-inducing materials like crocodile, 18k rose gold, and various hardwoods. Bellperre claims that the new model uses "no plastic," but we've gotta call their bluff. What's that we see in the mini USB port, the handsfree jack, the SIM slot, and the battery contact, hmm? CeBIT attendees this year should be able to get up close and personal with a few of these purely unaffordable goodies.
