Nokia hooks N78 up with another update, still hates the North American version {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 21st 2008 3:11PM Nokia support responds:

"We understand you are inquiring about a firmware upgrade for your Nokia N78-3 device.

James, firmware on Nokia mobile phones is only updated when the update would correct a problem on the phone itself. Firmware upgrades are not updated to add features to the phone.

Your Nokia N78-3 device has been in market since June, there has not been any determination for need of a firmware upgrade."

So it turns out we're all just imagining the problems.

Jul 21st 2008 2:57PM Check the thickness of the N82. They look to have similar specs but the N78 is a pocket-able phone, the N82 is a brick.

Jul 17th 2008 2:56PM Darn right NAM needs an update, I've got non stop issues with bluetooth and IMAP email.

S60 is looking more and more like a house of cards - every little update has ripples all through the system.

Should USA users expect OTA updates like Europe or by the (recently broken for a week) Software Updater? Should we expect it in 6 hours, 6 days or 6 weeks? Helllloo Nokia?

Oh and can people talk about a mobile phone without the obligatory Apple fan-boy iPhone comment?

Feb 29th 2008 11:19AM You might mention that POP clients go haywire and lose mail too. I've seen more mail lost with POP clients than IMAP.

Also good chance to mention an excellent free IMAP backup program, mailstore.

Wish it had wifi and GPS but that's for the N82.
