Dell's Latitude-On instant OS detailed, screenshooted {Engadget}

Aug 15th 2008 10:16AM These instant-on OS's remind me of all the things Vista Sideshow was "supposed" to do. Since mini lcd's embedded in laptop lids haven't exactly been all the rage, maybe there is a way to use Sideshow as the embedded OS. Or, dual boot instant-on OS's anyone? :)

If you really wanted the Engadget editors to write you an emphatically raving review, you would have made it iPhone compatible...

Microsoft issues beta fix, enhancements for Windows Home Server {Engadget}

Jun 10th 2008 11:01PM I used a 60 day trial install of WHS on my 5 year old desktop and REALLY liked it. I got Server 2003 for free through Microsoft's DreamSpark program, otherwise I was seriously considering buying it or building a new server for it.

I encountered very few bugs with it (mostly because of my 24/7 bittorrent habits), and assuming this update fixes those, I think this is an extremely cool product and everyone should take their FUD with a grain of salt...

You admit that it's a fantastic idea that Apple doesn't have and I'll admit that I've never actually seen a laptop that has it... Dammit Microsoft, why must you be so god-awful at marketing?

Leopard vs. Vista: feature chart showdown {Engadget}

Oct 28th 2007 1:39PM "Whatever features vista has for all of us, i dont think a mediocre user like me will ever use all of it."

Oh, sorry. I didn't realize you were a mediocre user. Excuse me while I vote up your comment and respect your opinion...

If iLife stays in, then add Windows Live Services to the chart:
http://get.live.com/betas

At which point you can point out that .Mac (the equivalent of Live.com) is $99 per year, and Live is free.

"Live.com is still in Beta!"
What, you mean like Gmail?
