Lenovo's IdeaPad S12 finally on sale with Windows 7, NVIDIA Ion {Engadget}
Oct 28th 2009 1:31PM To everyone that's carping about the lack of DDR3 memory support, have you totally lost any sense of perspective? For fuck's sake, what are you going to whine about next? The lack of SLI'd GTX 295's, Android or Chrome OS options??
This is a netbook with an Atom processor, not an Core i7, and this class of device is purpose built for things like browsing, email, VoIP, etc. How would DDR3 improve any of that? If you want a high performance machine so you can watch cat music videos on YouTube, go save up your paper route money, buy a proper laptop instead of a netbook, and STFU or GTFO.
RED releases high-res images of accessories, no actual accessories {Engadget}
Sep 28th 2009 7:50PM RED = cameras & accessories as designed by Darth Vader (with the same unyielding performance [until Lucas made into a whiney wuss in Ep. 1-3]).
Exclusive: Apple dictated Light Peak creation to Intel, could begin migration from other standards as early as 2010 {Engadget}
Sep 26th 2009 6:19PM Hmm, does these mean we're backsliding to having dedicated charging ports on Light Peak devices since there's no more 5VDC/500mA USB feed from the host system? That would suck (again.)
AT&T launching 3G Microcell in some markets in the next few days? {Engadget}
Sep 18th 2009 5:31PM I wonder how AT&T would react if other ISP's were to use DPI systems to throttle or block their femtocell traffic...
FCC to look into Google Voice, iPhone debacle next week? {Engadget}
Aug 22nd 2009 3:22PM Uhh, the fact that the Big 4 operate over public airwaves gives the government the absolute right, if not obligation, to tell them how to operate. They pay a license fee to use their respective portions of the spectrum and, as part of the licensing agreement, are required to meet certain requirements/provide certain services/access deemed necessary for the public good. That may take the form of open device access, traffic neutrality requirements, etc., but those requirements and decisions are what the FCC is responsible for deciding on the public's behalf.
Microsoft announces pricing for Windows 7 family pack, upgrading {Engadget}
Jul 31st 2009 6:04PM If you don't renew, they just send you a "reminder" letter telling you that license validity is contingent upon having an active MAPS subscription. No time bombs, remote deactivation, or anything hinky if you let the subscription lapse. As for the licenses themselves, they're the normal activation-required types, not like a MVLS license which requires a key but not activation. I got my first subscription back in 2003, let it lapse, then renewed back in the 2005, then let it lap, and just renewed it again this year with no problems.
If you don't think you'll need all ten of the client OS & Office licenses, split the cost with a friend or a relative. Definitely consider setting up a Small Business Server if you've got some spare hardware lying around. Having all of your data transparently synched between your desktops and laptops in the house is so nice, as is having an Exchange server if you have a direct-push capable device like a WinMo phone or an iPhone.

Viliv X70 EX Premium 3G on sale now in Hong Kong {Engadget}
Jul 23rd 2009 5:56PM @OneLove - or it's entirely possible that MaXKiLLz doesn't have the cash flow constraints that you have, and the cost of the device is entirely acceptable when compared with the near-term utility that they're deriving from the device. If you can't afford the device then don't buy it, but stop hating on those that do have the means.
