Drobo (second-gen) mini-review {Engadget}
Jul 8th 2008 11:43AM One thing I don't hear a lot of folks touch on is the SDK that was released. I think that's significant. Depending on the level of adaptation this thing gets, there could be a lot of interesting plays on this.
I wish I was a developer, but I'm not. I know I'll get killed for this, but personally I'd love a Zune Server on this.
Also, the DroboShare seems to share 2 Drobo units. If I understand it right, it's more than just a simple NIC, but also an expansion back-plane.
Verizon CEO hates on Steve Jobs, doesn't see iPhone as a mass-market handset {Engadget Mobile}
Jul 1st 2008 11:13AM I think this is huge regret being masked....Big Red had their chance on the iPhone and decided not to play....now I think they regret it and are reaching to come up with self justification for that move....

Zune shows up at Canadian retailer on schedule for June release {Engadget}
May 23rd 2008 12:08PM I too am a Zune fan.....To me the sound quality of the Zune is far superior than the iPod....my wife owns the 8G iPod....my 2 sons each own the 8G Zune and I have the 80G Zune....comparing the sound back to back, it's unanimous....Zune wins every time.
Also, a lot of high-end audiophile gear do not include an EQ....the focus is in reproducing the sound in the purest, most accurate way so it's heard the way the producer intended it to be heard. EQs are really intended to compensate for poor equipment in the chain....
I'm not suggesting the Zune is a high-end audiophile player, btw....
Also, compare the interfaces, and the iPod looks and feels like it's outdated by 5 years...IMO

May 23rd 2008 9:00AM yeah I'm with you....I'm in SW Florida and south of St. Pete there is no AT&T 3G coverage.....in fact, AT&T coverage is pretty abysmal all around here. I would love an alternative to big red, but for data hungry folks like me, it's difficult here.....
Cradlepoint announces 3G-ready CTR500 travel router {Engadget}
May 15th 2008 3:29PM eh....i think these devices will become more relevant when 4G arrives....I'm stingy with my bandwidth as it is......3G isn't fast enough for me, so I'm not really looking to share it....
Nice to see it out there though....it fills a need

Feb 19th 2008 4:56PM I completely agree...I don't understand why we haven't seen more of these devices...especially w/monitors getting larger and better. I have a Dell 24", which provides PIP with component, but it's clunky. I'm glad to see this and hope it delivers.
What's an iPhone? 14.3m Windows Mobile phones sold in the past six months alone {Engadget}
Feb 11th 2008 3:48PM I don't understand the obsessive comparison between the iPhone and WinMo....They're not the same thing. The iPhone is a fully integrated appliance between hardware and software with limited functionality, but broad consumer appeal. Of course it gives you a better, more cohesive experience on the 5, 10, 15, whatever umpteen thing it does.
WinMo is an operating system running on a billion different platforms, designed for broad interoperability and business applications....Of course it does a bunch more, but it's user experience is clunky by comparison.....and even that varies dramatically between devices...
I don't think it's beyond Microsoft's ability, it's just not what they're up to. Their business model is to partner. Regardless if what you think of it, the Zune is an example of how MS can have a good user experience on a device....man say it's better than the iPod classic.
My opinion is there is no better or worse, but different devices. Pick your preference and live with it.
