I really -REALLY- don't want an iPhone... but, at $700+, AND a service contract of some sort with Tmobile or AT&T... no f'n way.. can't do it... nope.
$400-$500 max.
North American comms f'n suck... bah... we need to switch to Europes system of pre-paid+unlocked... THEN I might pay more.. otherwise, no way.

1) This phone was, in fact, designed by HTC.
2) The UI Sony plans to use is, in fact, a custom "panel UI" not seen in the pics above; but it has been seen in other leaked shots, and it looks pretty slick!
