AT&T BlackBerry Bold hands-on {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 11th 2008 8:26AM The 3G/WiFi browser issue is related to AT&T's media net. The MEdia Net option uses only 3G, while the regular browser app is 3G/WiFi. Also, selecting any of the MEdia Net bookmarks while in the regular browser will use 3G only as well, since MEdia Net requires data communication over AT&T's network.

It's unfortunate, though, as I think the MEdia Net video player would perform much better using a WiFi connection when available as opposed to only the 3G network.

AT&T BlackBerry Bold hands-on {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 10th 2008 6:36PM The media player is very similar to the 8800's... slightly improved though. Two sample videos come preloaded on the AT&T Bold... a Speed Racer movie trailer (fastest 3G network, get it?) and a music video. They both look absolutely AMAZING on the Bold's screen. Music plays as well, and if you get the Blackberry Media Sync app (currently only for Windows; Mac version under development), you can even play iTunes protected music on your Bold!

I've had mixed results with AT&T's 3G "Cellular Video"... sometimes it plays flawlessly, sometimes it does a lot of buffering, or the video stops and the audio keeps going. I'm in a solid 3G area, so signal doesn't seem to be a problem (it happened when I was outside, staring right at the cell tower less than 1/4 mile away, not moving).

Nov 10th 2008 6:30PM HTML email is ok... Images don't load by default, a feature that is lacking on the iPhone... so when you open that spam message accidentally, you don't have to worry about them confirming your email address because one of the images in the email loaded. I haven't gotten a lot of HTML emails since I got mine though, so I don't have a lot to compare it against.

Are you having problems with iPhone 2.0? {Engadget}

Jul 10th 2008 9:19PM I've had issues with Weatherbug only causing hard resets. All other apps and games have worked great for me. A minor lag with the keyboard, but nothing unacceptable... just doesn't seem to be quite as responsive as before, but it still works fine.

iPhone 3G must be activated in-store (and other followup questions answered) {Engadget}

Jun 13th 2008 2:59PM Jailbreaking and unlocking are two completely different things. It is possible to jailbreak the iPhone to install applications without unlocking it so it can be used on other carriers. It's the unlockers you have to thank.

iPhone 3G must be activated in-store (and other followup questions answered) {Engadget}

Jun 13th 2008 1:57PM Back when I got my first-gen iPhone, everything related to the account setup - including number porting - was handled in iTunes.

Since activation of the iPhone 3G will be required in-store, they will likely handle all of this in-store. They'll probably ask for your Sprint phone number, account number, have you enter the password to your Sprint account (to verify that you are in fact the account owner), and within a couple hours of your iPhone being activated, the number port should be complete.

Time Capsule shipping this week? {Engadget}

Feb 28th 2008 9:02PM Mine shows that it has been prepared for shipping... of course, I only placed my order early this week.

Clear Channel wants you to SMS song requests {Engadget Mobile}

May 30th 2007 6:43AM Big whoop. XM tried it and it seems to have bombed. XM had it where you'd send a text with the channel number to XMXMM (96966), then it would reply to confirm you got the right channel, then you'd text your request.

They don't promote it anymore, so I don't even know if it still works. But I don't think it was being used a lot. Just as I'm sure this won't.

Is XM radio temporarily offline? {Engadget}

May 21st 2007 7:14PM Getting signal from one satellite, but not the other, and not the local repeater.

Apple TV at Costco {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 2nd 2007 11:44PM A note that the iTunes cards are also available at some warehouses too. I know at least two that are near where I live and work that have the cards in the store as well...
