82% of America never uses text messaging {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 7th 2008 7:55PM For real, imagine how many people would text if it didn't cost so much. $20/month, thats almost 67 cents a day for unlimited texting. Honestly who can afford that? They should just make it free. And why stop there, how many more people would talk more if minutes whrere free too. think how many people would start subscribing to HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax, and all the other extra tv channels if they just stopped charging for it, and then how many more people would start listening to sat. radio if XM and sirius started giving it away. Why do service providers charge for services anyway??? Hope your picking up on that sarcasim cause I'm laying it on pretty thick.

AT&T: Your plastic bag. Delivered. {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 23rd 2008 12:09AM I know stupid and wasteful of packageing and shipping. I remember when the iPhone launched and it was a requirement for the iPhone to be sealed in the bag and handed to the customer as some important T&C on the bag about return policy, 2 year agreement, and data plan, etc.. Sales reps at AT&T were instructed every customer has to recieve their iPhone in the sealed bag per the contract with Apple. The way this was tracked was a seperate barcode on the bag. (if some one did not get the bag, it would be a way for them to say we where never told about the return policy, 2 yr agreement, or data plan that is required even though it is clearly stated again in iTunes but what ever.) So as stupid and wastful as it was for AT&T to ship you the bag, it would have been inviolation of the famous Apple/AT&T contract which i guess to AT&T is a little more valuable then all the expense in shipping you a bag.

Verizon prepping iPhone killers from Motorola and LG? {Engadget Mobile}

May 26th 2007 9:37PM Its not really the hardware thats needed to kill the iPhone. It wont even take a "Media Monster". All thats needed is a "Marketing Monster" thats bigger then Apple's. I honestly dont believe that there is a company out there that markets products better then Apple. Exampe: there are many MP3 players on the market to day that have more features then the iPod and could argue are just better MP3 players, yet Apple has almost an 80% market share on MP3 Players. If Apple can master the phone part and just the phone (meaning assuming good signal it has clear sound, and few dropped calls) there maybe no stopping them. They can add features like 3G and wireless access to the iTunes store later when the 2nd Gen iPhone comes out. (probally just before this christmas season.)

iPhone rumor du jour: June 20th release date {Engadget Mobile}

May 26th 2007 11:37AM you have a brother..., who grew up with this guy..., thats now a DoS for AT&T..., and he said...

Ohh, well; then this must be true.

But I have a friend whose brother's girlfriend's dad went to high school with this guy that lives next door to Steve Jobs, and he said June 22nd. The longer it takes, the better. Because once it comes out, no one will have anything to talk about. :) relax,it is only a cell phone! although a very cool cell phone; but still just a phone.

iPhone rumor du jour: June 20th release date {Engadget Mobile}

May 25th 2007 8:47PM Will is right, the lowest ranking people at AT&T that know details would be the Directors of Sales (DOS) for a given area, and of course apple has them sign papers to keep quiet. No store reps, store managers, or even area managers know official launch dates. However, I did overhear some coversations between a few DOS's and I know that it is supposed to be launched on a Friday, and along with some other internal documents dealing with store scheduling would also point to definaetly the last 2 weeks of June. My guess is it will Launch on the 15th or the 22nd, and most likely the 22nd. I heard some other cool new info, but I dont know how true it is, and no reason to start rumors. Really the only solid info about this that is relable is on the apple or AT&T site.

Just a thought: you know how when someone tells you about the greatest movie they ever saw, and you just have to see it too because its just so great? I mean' it really is the best movie ever! then when you finally get around to seeing it, and its only ok, or maybe not even that great. It probally was a good movie, your expectations were just set to high. But think about it.... Its just a phone.

Apple iPhone center stage in 'AT&T Mobility' brand {Engadget Mobile}

May 8th 2007 10:30PM Well said WirelessWizard. However about the name changing and branding: while very confusing, if it could have been done differently, it would have. Remember Cingular used to be owned by SBC communications (60%) and BellSouth (40%). SBC wanted to purchase old AT&T for some time, but with old AT&T having a finacial intrest in AT&T wireless, it would prove to be a conflict of intrest to be finacially backing opposing wireless carriers. So they had to purchase AT&T wireless first. In that agreement they only had rights to the AT&T wireless name for 6 mths after purchase, hence the branding plan to Cingular. Some time Later SBC purchases the old AT&T as planned and keeping the better brand equity in the AT&T name, they create the new AT&T. a few months later the "new AT&T" (which is really SBC communications with a new name) buys out its partner BellSouth. Now Cingular is owned 100% by one communications company "The New AT&T". Bundling all of the New AT&T's communications services under one name, only makes sense. So while very confusing, and some might think a waste of about 500 million to fully rebrand Cingular. It was a ness. evil.
