Engadget HD Podcast 094 - 07.23.2008 {Engadget HD}
Jul 23rd 2008 4:15PM i think you are not the "norm" in terms of your not wanting to watch movies the day they come out. i think with the big movies most people do want to watch it that day. i know there are some movies i want to watch that day and i constantly see people buying the big name movies the day it comes out. if people didnt care you would not see sales taper off each additional week after release.
you might be able to live with it and thats fine in your case but this is part of the reason i see digital distro taking off once we get all of the little issues worked out with digital distro. and there are plenty but there are also many issues with bluray as well.
Fanpoll: How was Microsoft's E308 showing? {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Jul 23rd 2008 2:48PM Overall I thought it was a great show.... not because of the games but all the other new stuff we will be able to do this fall. there wasnt a whole lot of new games shown and i dont really care about ff13 so that wasnt that important to me.
but all the little things the new dashboard will be doing (netflix, party system, hd installs, web access, etc). i will be using my 360 alot more this fall because of some of this stuff. and thats what i really care about. show me why i will be using my console this year and thats one area ms did a fantastic job with.

Jul 23rd 2008 2:45PM just my opinion but i dont consider a trailer as showing off the game. i hated when we saw trailers for halo wars and the other stuff.
what i liked at ms show this year was all the actual demos of the games (re5, fable2, gears2, etc). thats showing me something vs some trailer that may or may not ever look like that. not to mention if you are showing a trailer your game is really far off and there is no telling how many times it will be delayed (use halo wars here or one of the many ps3 delays).
Details on Lips: microphone, your songs, its songs {Joystiq}
Jul 17th 2008 6:43PM that may have answered one of my biggest questions about lips.... if it could read the existing streamed library on the 360 (through media player/zune). i would much rather just stream the music off my computer than worry about plugging a zune or ipod in every time.
E308: Bungie's E3 announcement deferred by publisher [Update 4] {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Jul 15th 2008 10:19PM its more likely imo that since sony and nintendo had such a poor showing this year ms decided to cancel the announcement and do it later in the year now. they already basically "won" e3.... they can now save it for some other show and have that be the big announcement.
i bet it was setup that way from the beginning.... only show it if they really needed it.
Halo Wars promised in first half of 2009 {Joystiq}
Jul 14th 2008 9:53PM on g4tv they had a demo as well where one of the guys working on the game said spring of next year.
and i have to say the new demo looked pretty damn good.
What do you want to know about the 'new Xbox experience'? {Joystiq}
Jul 14th 2008 6:14PM ask how the marketplace will work with the new look? also will there finally be a search to find things. (that hopefully works with the chatpad)

Jul 14th 2008 3:43PM good pickup for the xbox... along with netflix.
now if they would only bring all this hd content to media center and zune.

Jul 10th 2008 10:34AM ben i want to second your comments about sagetv just not looking good as a ui. i am a media center user (server/extender model) and i have tried sage a number of times and even with the best themes for sage it just doesnt look as good/smooth as media center.
i really hope they redo the whole ui for the next major sage release because it really needs it. sage did get a number of things right (and do them better than media center.... a good extender, embedded commercial skip, the guide stuff) but i just cant get past that interface. and its even worse for me because of all things sage runs well on a windows home server (when media center does not) and i really want to start building a home server based on a proper server os.
its going to be interesting to see who wins... sage with a decent ui or ms actually having their products work well together and bringing media center to whs.
