iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak now for Mac, that was quick {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jan 24th 2008 10:33PM i got the mac version of this to work on an unlocked iphone (ipsf) on tmobile.

The only problem was activating edge. every time i tried to update the APN it crashed. what you need to do is after you run this update to 1.1.3 go to settings>general>reset and reset network settings. then you can enter your network apn and it will save it.

that is the only problem i've found so far.

1.1.3 iPhone jailbreak goes LIVE {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jan 24th 2008 9:14PM i tried it and my iphone got stuck in restore mode. i went back to 1.1.2. I just wasted 2 hours of my night so i'll stay there until something more legit comes out.

Hands-on with iTunes movie rentals: quirky and restrictive, but dead easy {Engadget}

Jan 16th 2008 10:25AM Even though I am an apple fanboy, I've found myself going to the dark side more and more lately. I got Vista Ultimate from school for cheap so I have been using that and xbox360s as my media center. Since the Xbox supports Divx, mp4, etc, I can stream all of my files, plus also rent from the marketplace on the xbox. I also bought a Zune so that I could wirelessly sync my podcasts. It all actually works great. Obviously without Apple's elegance though.

If the HD rentals worked with the mac mini I may consider replacing mine and using the rentals with the eyeTV. I also am not too happy about the rentals not working with my 5th Gen iPod. That pretty much means there is no way of me playing the files on my TV unless I buy an Apple TV, or pay 600 dollars to fix my 599 mac mini that died 1 year 2 months after I bought it. Yes I am bitter.

Alpine announces iDA-X200 and X300 iPod-friendly headunits for 2008 {Engadget}

Dec 31st 2007 6:09PM I have the xda-001 and i love it. I also bought the sirius and hd-radio add-ons. It is outstanding. There are some control issues but once i got used to it, I have had no problems.

I do wish that it was firmware upgradable though so that my old deck could have better controls. Either way I would recommend these types of decks to anyone.

1.1.2 Jailbreak updated to include activation, PPC support {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 16th 2007 5:07PM I used this on my phone unlocked with the SimFree unlock and it worked perfectly. I was already on 1.1.1 so all i did was install the OKtoPrep via apptap and then updated with itunes. Then ran the java app and all was good.

Probably the simplest update yet!

TUAW's new background for your computer {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Oct 19th 2007 8:27PM It looks like a cheesy background I would have used when i first started web developing in 96 and would put words in yellow on a background like this.

I really liked the old look. I agree with the person who uses the rss view. It looks so much better than the new look.

Deep Discount Apple TV {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Oct 17th 2007 9:08PM my year and a half old mini just died and i need a replacement. i trying to decide between a tivo hd (which will offer avi streaming in a month) apple tv (hacked for avi) or save up for another mac mini. I might have to check this out.

and ouch to the sales tax. i thought 6.5 was bad in minnesota. in wisconsin it is only 5.

Apple raises Leopard Academic price {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Oct 16th 2007 2:12PM "Microsoft software is far more expensive than Apple software, yet you never hear anyone wailing about that. Strange."

That is because no one actually pays for MS Software. I don't think i've ever met a person who actually purchased a MS OS or MS Office unless it came with their computer.

The higher you make the price, the more people are likely to pirate. Especially with how easy Apple makes it with no activation.

I think their pricing is good for the average consumer, however for students and future lifetime apple customers they should give a bigger discount.
