Tea cup theremin {Hack a Day}
Jul 3rd 2008 8:13PM Can we put the long, dangly bit into a substance almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea?
SSDs save battery power, right? Wrong. {Engadget}
Jul 1st 2008 5:29PM Hard drive tech is much more mature than SSD tech is...if this is still the case in five years, I'll be surprised.
Pleo's site turns one, little bugger's price temporarily drops over $100 {Engadget}
Jun 30th 2008 3:47AM Awkward title to this article...I clicked on it excitedly, thinking the price had dropped to just over $100 (which is about what I'd be willing to pay).
ASUS Eee Stick hits the FCC, our minds race in wonder {Engadget}
Jun 23rd 2008 2:58PM Gyration mice are crazy expensive, though. Sounds like a nice fit for the Eee product line.
66 OLPC XO '$100 Laptops' Stolen from Poor Kids {Switched.com}
Jun 23rd 2008 5:37AM Useful article. Now I that know the XO is defective by design, I'm even less interested in getting one (if that's possible).
Crapgadget: revolving USB hub, revolting MP4 watch, lavish amounts of lameness {Engadget}
Jun 23rd 2008 3:58AM I pity the foo who wears that watch...
MultiFireFox 2.0 {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jun 19th 2008 8:22PM I don't know if keeping Firefox 2 around is going to be that much of an issue. It's not like IE6...new installations of Firefox 2 are only going to get rarer.
An ode to my iPod video {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jun 19th 2008 7:11AM I dunno. The 5.5G will always have a special place in my heart (it was my first, too...you never love a gadget quite the same way again), but my 160GB Classic has battery life that slaughters what my old one could do...long enough that it's never died once in between the times I needed to plug it in to sync data anyways. But the new firmware sucks. Now I wish I'd not sold my old one...I bet you could hack the new screen and drive onto the 5.5G motherboard, and get the battery life/huge size and the better interface.
Samsung Instinct available June 20th for $129.99, strings attached {Engadget}
Jun 18th 2008 10:54AM Rebate makes this a huge fail. If you want to discount your stuff, discount it. Everyone knows rebates are a shady way to rip some people off. The fact that they think I'm stupid enough to fall for it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, wondering what else they'll try to pull over on me over the course of the contract. No thanks.
Internet Addresses to Run Out in 2010 {Switched.com}
Jun 18th 2008 6:51AM I bet when they were developing IPv4, it seemed like an impossible amount of addresses, then. Why didn't they make IPv6 extendable (somehow), so they could be absolutely certain we'll have enough for the future? If we (for example) develop planet-sized conglomerations of molecular-sized nanobots that each need to be connected to receive instructions, we may very well run out of IPv6...I'm sure someone can come up with an example that's even less far-out.
