The second-gen iPhone: 3G, GPS, only slightly thicker {Engadget}

Apr 25th 2008 5:54PM Built in obsolescence.

Apple wants the battery to fail so that you upgrade hardware. I'm sick of it. A device with an ipod, safari, gps, and 3G is going to eat through battery life. On my iphone now, the battery is a huge limiter and non-replaceable truly blows. The competitors are not going to make this mistake. I hope Apple is listening.

T-Mobile confirms it'll have an Android device sometime this year {Engadget}

Apr 23rd 2008 7:44PM easily.

you missed out on the 1000 minute anytime plus free nts/wkns for 39.99. add on t-zones for 5.99, and i'm easily below 50 bucks.

iphone on t-mo at this price = heaven.

Apr 23rd 2008 5:12PM PS3guy: T-Mobile sucks until you realize that i can get 1000 anytime minutes (unlimited nights/weekends) and unlimited data/email for less than 50 bucks/mo. No other carrier is even close. Now, they are pathetically lacking on 3G rollout, i will admit.

Apr 15th 2008 10:31PM I know it's totally infuriating. This is why we should all support the local coffee shops. F starbucks.

Cheapo refurbished iPhones for sale online from AT&T {Engadget}

Mar 24th 2008 7:01PM hey guys, this is the video that makes it so easy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWCW1Jkv27w

first thing to do is download firware restore of 1.1.4. DO NOT UPGRADE. use the restore, which completely wipes and reloads. this prevents any conflicts from developing with ziphone.

next, download ziphone softare.

to restore the iphone, you hold the home button while powering the unit on and pluggin into your comp. when itunes starts, click shift and restore. this will prompt a file open box. find where you downloaded 1.1.4 and restore.

once restored to 1.1.4, run ziphone and click the "do it all" button. this unlocks the phone and jailbreaks it.

after that, get your t-mo sim and pop it in. you then go to the settings button in the iphone and go to network, then edge. you have to set the proxy server for t-mo. i'm still on the general inet plan so it was imply a matter of typing in "wap.voicestream.com".

the whole process took me less than 10 minutes.

i'm still trying to decide if i switch to unlimited t-zones, as i may keep my blackberry pearl and iphone, in which case i'll keep the unlimited t-zones plan.

hope that helps!
