Finally some hard numbers in the format war {Engadget HD}
Apr 12th 2007 5:08PM Why not also point out that superman returns on both formats is pretty much neck and neck and its been out long enough so people actually have it vs one or two weeks of sales.
30845 for bluray vs 28440 for hd-dvd. Stuff like drawing attention to the departed while ignoring other titles that dont share that conclusion is why people call you a bluray fanboy.
Engadget HD Podcast 043 - 04.04.2007 {Engadget HD}
Apr 4th 2007 3:55PM I think the reason you guys like appletv and dont like mce is because atleast matt mentioned it.... you guys have macs in the house.
I have pc's in the house and use wmp11 to manage my music and media center is superior to apple tv imo because it the closest thing we have to an "all in one" solution. But I am basing this argument similarly to bens point that if you leave your pc alone and let it do just media center its very stable (I even use vista and its been very stable... more so than my cable dvr) but i have my setup as a server where all it does is serve the 360's in my house.
But with mce I have all the analog channels and QAM locals with a hdhomerun(the only reason i keep the cable dvr around is to record the non locals we have... espn, universal etc). Also streams music and photos just like the apple tv does but we also get pvr functionality. And then there is all the stuff you can add to media center (auto commercial skip, webguide for scheduling/viewing content remotely, mcontrol for home automation, etc).
Now if all i wanted to do was stream content off my pc you are right appletv does a good job at that but I would still not put its interface above mce (especially vista mce).... the overlays mce can do via the 360 is very cool and I can stream HD just fine to the 360 as well as all the other stuff.
Windows Mobile 6 out, supports new resolutions too {Engadget}
Feb 11th 2007 8:25PM I wonder how long it will be before they start getting this integrated into phones? I am eyeing a moto Q from sprint and would rather wait for 6 vs getting locked into a contract now with winmo 5
Universal poised to hop onto the Blu-ray bandwagon? {Engadget HD}
Feb 8th 2007 3:07AM well i didnt know they disable comments on his posts....
still im seeing more and more people not care about these types of posts because they have been done to death in every possible way. not one of these articles bring anything new to the debate.
and i know ben put the word speculation in the article but it doesnt change the overall tone of the article. He gets 50 words into the article before you know that the whole thing is nothing but speculation on ross's part.

Universal poised to hop onto the Blu-ray bandwagon? {Engadget HD}
Feb 7th 2007 7:49PM And just because some random guy says he thinks universal will switch doesn't mean they will. Yet its posted as a factual story by the resident bluray fan..... ben "bluray" drawbaugh.
Kinda funny though that there are 0 comments to the post made 4 hrs ago on engadget.com of all places. This is just another analyst talking and nobody really cares other than those that want to spin it one way or the other.
Engadget HD Podcast 040 - 2.1.2007 {Engadget HD}
Feb 1st 2007 11:08PM yeah the audio is a knock against the live marketplace but it could be theoretically solved by giving more bitrate to it and doing a bluray like lossless audio (i doubt they would) then again most bluray&hd-dvd players arent setup to take advantage of the higher quality audio on the discs yet so who knows what ms could do in a few years before all of this stuff is more common.
btw when you guys going to have a public podcast again? It would be fun to go toe to toe with ben "bluray" drawbaugh.
Engadget HD Podcast 040 - 2.1.2007 {Engadget HD}
Feb 1st 2007 9:37PM Good show guys but one thing I would like to address... I for one like the HD versions of stuff avaliable on the live marketplace. I have both the hd-dvd addon and have bought a few shows/movies on the live service and the difference in quality is much smaller than I would have though (in fact it was pretty tough to tell a difference). I do have a 720p projector but being as big as it is you can tell thing like blocking much easier than on a small tv.
And thats not even mentioning the trailers on live (which look awesome on the projector). And the way live works might be the answer to your capacity problem where it marks you bought the show so you can delete it after you have watched it and just redownload it when you want to view. (so you would only need to keep a fraction of the content on your actual device)
Microsoft switches up names for Windows Mobile 6 {Engadget}
Jan 29th 2007 2:15PM I am also waiting on ordering a Q because I want to see how this will all play out.... I would like to be able to upgrade my new phone or wait until they come with it.

Jan 24th 2007 4:15PM Overall very good except you are completly wrong about using AVSForum poll data as acutal numbers. AVSForum isnt a good representation of the general public at all.... Im an AVSForum member and we are much more interested in this stuff than joe sixpack. A FAR FAR greater percentage of people at AVSForum would use the ps3 for bluray playback vs the general public. My guestimate is 25% max ps3's are use for movie playback.
