Number port stats suggest curious trends in iPhone 3G launch {Engadget Mobile}
Jul 22nd 2008 4:56PM I just switched from a T-Mobile Dash (WinMo) to the 3G and am very happy that I did. The iPhone is hands-down a better device than WinMo can support. Somehow, I survive without MMS (email anyone?); somehow I survive without cut and paste (wasn't on my Dash either). But the ease-of-use and the neato GPS/Google maps and the iPod and the...make this a fantastic device.
Yes, AT&T's 3G is a little spotty but I expect that will improve over time. At least they have a full roll-out. I expect TMo will have a long, slow, difficult 3G rollout. Too bad TMo's 3G and handset offerings don't match their excellent customer service and rate plans. But the reality is, I'd rather spend a bit more money and have a better device and experience.

Jul 11th 2008 1:57AM Actually Tom, Ryan says in the video that it's a "New Zealand" adapter which is the same as an Australian one. He's in Auckland. Note the phone is on the "Voda NZ" network.
Relax Roger, no one's forcing you to buy one.
Sadly, I'll be away on a family vacation tomorrow so I'll have to wait until Monday for my iPhix. I guess family time does rate higher than those three days, but it will be hard. ;-)

Jun 25th 2008 11:38PM When you subscribe to eFax (free or paid) you get assigned a fax number where you can receive faxes from traditional fax machines. These are sent to you as email attachments (with a number of file-type options).
I like this feature as no paper is wasted on receiving faxes and you can even read them on your mobile phone if it can view the attachment.

Hands-on with T-Mobile @Home {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 25th 2008 3:39PM Two comments:
1. eFax is pretty good, but it does not have support for Intel Macs, so when I want to fax I have to open up Windows.
2. We've though about switching to TMo's @Home, but with a small child in the house and living in an earthquake zone, we don't feel comfortable dropping our POTS (and yes, we do have an old dial phone that doesn't require separate power).

Mar 26th 2008 1:55PM Well, it would be hard to make the camera UI any worse. Will it now be possible to use the camera on my Dash without having to quit all the other applications using Task Manager? Somehow I'm not too hopeful.

Jul 11th 2007 4:27PM I believe this means you CAN NOT use the unlocked iPhone as a phone. Just a PDA, iPod, etc. So it becomes an expensive, if very nice PMP/PDA. Just not a phone. :-(
