Cingular, Verizon slapped with class action suits {Engadget Mobile}
Jul 12th 2006 11:03AM Why would Cingular maintain AT&T's network??? That's the DUMBEST question I have ever heard! Oh, wait I think the dumbest question ever came from Verizon's CEO when he said: "why would anyone expect to have mobile phone reception in their house?" Cingular should maintain AT&Ts network because they have that responsibility to the 20+ Milliion subscribers they got when they bought AT&T. I don't mean they should maintain old TDMA towers and such - AT&T was already phasing those out, but cutting the 1900mhz reception is unacceptable! In the past 3 months my phone has gone from usable, to almost useless in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Give me ONE good reason to replace a WORKING phone that I bought from AT&T? I still have a Sony Ericsson T68 which lacks the 850mhz frequency and I still use it. At least the SF Bay area still has good 1900 coverage.
Cingular to help MySpace bands create, sell ringtones {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 8th 2006 1:21AM What a freakin' rip-off! It's not bad enough that RIAA is ripping off musicians, now the cell phone companies are doing their best to do so! 25% !? Can you believe this crap? I mean, it's as if the artists put a quarter of the effort into CREATING the music, and Cingular puts 75% into MAKING A FREAKIN RINGTONE OUT OF IT!
This is the worst possible form of exploitation I've seen in a while. If I was a band on MySpace, I'd GLADLY turn down such "Generocity" from Cingular... Don't even get me started on the PRICE for a ringtone - a FULL Song can be had for a US Dollar on iTunes, and most new phones have mp3 playback capability (and at least enough storage memory for 1 song), so how on this world do the cell phone company get off wanting to charge $2.50 FOR A RINGTONE?!

Not sure what problems you are referring to with AT&T SE phones (or Cingular for that matter). I currently own and use (on occasion when traveling) a T68i which was purchased 4 years ago and works fine to this day. I also have 2 T616 and a T637 which were consequently purchased, all still fully functional. All of them are in perfect working order and have been through a lot (I'm tough on my phones). I'm currently using a K750i which unfortunatley has poor signal reception in places due to the lack of 850mhz.
I have gone through 6 business nokias in 3 years - never had any of them last... Currenly using an Audiovox which seems to work alright but I hate windows mobile.
Bottom line is this - it comes to personal preference , and mine is to stay very far away from Nokia and Moto (those trully suck!)

Mar 8th 2006 11:57AM Why Oh WHY did they go with a Nokia 3G instead of Sony Ericsson!? I've been hoping beyond hope that they'll pickup the W900 or the new K800...
Oh well, I hope they'll get a few more phones and finally launch video phone service.

Feb 27th 2006 3:01PM This would be a nice phone to have... even if it's a Moto ;) Still, I'd pick the SLVR over a RAZR any day of the week (hate clamshells)

Feb 23rd 2006 10:53AM WOW! I can't wait to get my hands on that!!! Now if they only make it quad band and UMTS capable for the US market (Cingular) I'll be all over it.
