Rumor: Wii-like PS3 controller used in focus test {Joystiq Playstation}
Jun 2nd 2008 2:52PM Old news
it was well known that Sony had in development, early in the ps2 life cycle, various motion sensing equipment.
the sixaxis is a great example of that technology.
for me this is not surprising at all, and somewhat expected. they spent all those years developing it, makes sense to reap some money from those projects.
(can't remember links, but several podcasts mentioned it around the time that the 360 device was "announced". the one that springs to mind is the 1up podcast.)
It's live! Firmware 2.30 ready to download {Joystiq Playstation}
Apr 15th 2008 4:50AM when i was installing the update it gave me an error. i can't remember exactly but it was saying it's not my original/correct HDD. that is true, i have changed my HDD, but when i restarted the console and checked if it did install the update it had.
didn't take too long to download this time which is encouraging.
Samsung's touchy F490 launches on Vodafone {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 9th 2008 5:02PM I've had this phone since last Thursday. it's been out since last Wednesday.
Next European PSN update to be the most PAINful yet {Joystiq Playstation}
Mar 16th 2008 3:06PM Localisation issues again?
they keep saying they are going to be addressed, but its the same comment that we've heard time and time again from other developers on the psn. how about super puzzle fighter???
last time i heard about that game capcom said they were developing something to eliminate the localisation issues, this technique would cause some delay for this game but it wouldn't effect others...
and yet we still wait for that. i think it has to be down more to the fragmentation of the different sony areas, yes there are bound to be the odd localisation issue, but surely teams and techniques should be in place.
Vodafone lining up the Samsung F490? {Engadget Mobile}
Mar 14th 2008 7:44AM I'm sorry but this is a poor article. there are many things wrong here i feel i should put right.
it has been known for a while now that this was a Vodafone exclusive (perhaps when the handset was announced back in January, the phone has missed more than one release date, originally placed in February then early march.
the website used as a link highlights one of the issues about this phone in that the specs here differ from other sites, namely with the lack of autofocus. very early press releases from the phones announcement last year in the Ukraine showed that it had no autofocus, however releases this year have said differently.
Sorry for being picky, but i really want this phone and have been following it for a while now.
Fatal Inertia won't stay dead; makes an appearence on ESRB website {Joystiq Playstation}
Mar 12th 2008 10:23PM to be honest this is not too surprising.
it is still listed on some websites as coming soon, for example play has it coming out 30/03/08 [http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/1021978/Fatal-Inertia/Product.html]
I do hope that the extra time has helped improve it. the demo on the 360 looked good, but just didn't play well. in all fairness it could have been a poor demo.
it would sit well on the ps3, offering up a game with similar play to wipeout, but also different to not feel samey. it could also be described as something similar also to motorstorm, so it is in good company.
GDC08: Sony t-shirt teases in-game XMB {Joystiq Playstation}

hopefully some internet bright spark will print some shirts with that on
New Folding@Home update: nothing to write home about {Joystiq Playstation}
Feb 15th 2008 7:51PM now and then it'll fail to upload it's work unit and/or fail to download a work unit. not that common, perhaps once every 2-3 units. thankfully it automatically re-tries after 30 seconds or so.
a useful update but not a huge one
This fan-made PSP redesign is sexy {Joystiq Playstation}
Feb 11th 2008 2:27PM First glance it looks amazing...
but looking closer, the L/R 1/2 buttons just seem to be in the wrong place...i can't imagine how it would be possible to hit two or three of those buttons whilst trying to use other buttons like the analogue sticks...
Still, slick screen and a home button seem perfect.
perhaps, instead of the whole thing coming down from the screen...imagine that section split in two and those two sections coming down from behind the screen and moving apart from each other to create a upside down V formation...i think whilst looking cool, it would also be far more comfortable and easy to control, plus the L/R 1/2 buttons could be placed in more traditional locations
PlayStation Fancast 014: Naughty Dog Edition {Joystiq Playstation}
Feb 2nd 2008 7:12AM For those who still have Playstation FanCast on Itunes, you won't be able to download episode 14.
you'll need to find PS3 Fanboy through itunes to suscribe to this podcast.
just hitting the itunes button that they provide takes you back to the old playstation fancast which only went upto 13 episodes.
congrats on getting back together for another podcast (downlaoding as we speak), hope this is a regular trend
