Sep 18th 2007 1:31PM I would like to congratulate Engadget on putting vain attempts at humor before good reporting. The line "If you look carefully, you'll see that the E logo for EDGE is missing: we guess that 30% network coverage on O2 doesn't quite stretch inside the Apple Store." was clearly made by someone not very familiar with the iphone. The O2 iphone is connected to a wifi network, and will always show the wifi symbol until disconnected. The unlocked T-Mobile iPhone is not connected to wifi, so it's showing the EDGE indicator. It has nothing to do with reception, indeed you can't even tell how many bars an iphone connected to wifi is receiving.

Jul 18th 2007 7:16PM I've played with a AT&T bound Kaiser roughly two months ago. It wasn't branded, but it didn't have the forward camera either. The HTC reps, who were the ones letting me mess with it (actually they gave it to my store manager, but they let me check it out as well) gave a fall time frame. I forget which month, but definitely not August.
And yes, it did have GPS and the reps bragged about it, so I would assume they were expecting it to make it to the final edition.

May 20th 2007 11:29PM A Verizon branded V9m prototype was for sale on Craigslist last week, so that carrier is all but assured. The V9 will have UMTS850/1900, and there's only one big carrier using that one, AT&T. The V8 is for carriers without 3G, so that one might be heading to T-Mobile.
But that's speculation.
