Mercedes-Benz shows off internet-connected myCOMMAND system {Engadget}
Nov 20th 2008 2:33PM No thanx to any touchscreen. First of all its against the law to interact with something while you are driving, thats why DVD playback in the current version is stopped if you drive. (Audio still plays though).
Second the rotary on the current S and C are quite great and lets you get where you want in the system without moving your hand off the armrest. In addition you have voice control that lets you say cities, streets, etc...
The only thing touch would be useful for is browsing and I don't see that as a huge need as most people that can afford a new benz can afford a good phone. Everything else including radio/youtube can be voice activated.
Having touch only incourages people to break the law and its much more unsafe to try to enter an address on a touchscreen (you can't feel the buttons) then speeding per say. People who do that scare me.
In the Autoblog Garage: 2009 Hyundai Genesis {Autoblog}
Nov 14th 2008 3:38AM I disagree quite strongly. While I think the exterior is pleasing, the interior is not to my liking. It looks cheap, and not the look/shape I look for. I think the current E-Class interior is better, its not as annoying in the center and I think wood looks better than a leather patch.
I think it would be interesting to see how well Hyundai would do if it were priced similarly to BMW/Audi/Benz. This review further confirms its only plus is its price and that it ALMOST measures up.
Honestly I preferred the interior look of the luxury car my dad operated when working in Korea a few years back, which was a Hyundai, sure more plain but didn't turn me off. At least Lexus has that as well.
Probably you either like or hate...
Which brings us to the fact that alot of people already hate Hyundai due to their reputation. And how will one get the special service one tends to get a BMW or Benz dealers at Hyundai?
For the record I drive a W203 C Class.
Hyundai/Kia teams up with Microsoft on in-car infortainment {Autoblog}
Nov 4th 2008 3:00PM This is kinda old an antiquated now. And I've had both Java and OS X crash on me.
But on point #1, I don't see how that translates as Windows is extremely customizable. I don't recall this in the original joke (I have printed out when GM made it) as well it has different version depending your need (appearently in cars this is good, but Mac fanbois will say this is bad to have choices and prices based on your needs).
#2 This was originally that the Windows car would only run on Microsoft Roads...
But most of this is just tired stuff. I have run both Linux, Windows, and OS X and none of them are 'lightyears' ahead of each other.
In regards to Microsoft and Cars... well Sync appearently works really well so why not. And its not like its controlling your engine or that anyone of you would buy a Hyundai or Kia either.
MacBook / MacBook Pro rumor roundup {Engadget}
Oct 12th 2008 10:05PM Don't call me an idiot when YOU CAN NOT READ.
I never once said the X2 was faster than the Core 2 Duo. I did say the difference is not as big as you and others make it seem.
In addition, regarding ATI Drivers. I'm not blind. I have several computers in the house, and have no issues with ATI under Vista. Further its funny you finally admit that nVidia has a host of Vista Driver issues but somehow ATI which never did initially (as my first Vista computer had ATI) does now... makes no sense.
Also The Register out of the UK said all 8000 series chips were faulity, which Engadget reported on as well. Also nVidia is being sued by it own shareholders for withholding information about faulty chips for "8 Months".
MacBook / MacBook Pro rumor roundup {Engadget}
Oct 12th 2008 9:31PM All you do is look at some benchmarks, I have had both and there is only a slight increase in speed in the Intel, and not worth the price. Today doing video editing took forever on the Intel, and not that much better than my AMD. 2GB was in both. Startup is faster, but marginally. Can't do serious gaming on the macbook anyways, I don't see why not use AMD... the price is so much better and you are OVERLY EXAGGERATING the speed benefits on Intel which really have MORE TO DO with the Quad Core line ups.
And perhaps nVidia is faster, but why would you want faster when their whole 8000 series line up is failing. And I suggested ATI since its faster than what Intel has to offer.
Yes I will agree the LED backlit will be nice, but honestly I'd rather want quality. I sold the replacement HP I got because of the bad customer service and quality on it (WiFi Failed, known issue with extended warranty on alot different HP Laptops). So in buying a laptop, I bought a brand that still has US Technical Support on first pick up, better customer satisfaction and quality than most and I looked at the parts such as avoiding nVidia. nVidia needs to show their current chips are okay before I trust them again, because even Microsoft showed that nVidia is reponsible for 25%+ of Vista crashes, so your JARGON about ATI Drivers being bad is way off when ATI/AMD has less crashes.

Oct 12th 2008 8:24PM Well I don't trust nVidia mobile chipsets, I use Firewire in my macbook and love the look of the white one. So i'm glad I got mine two weeks ago if the rumors are true.
2.4Ghz is good for me and I'll upgrade the ram at some point. I would have prefered them going ATI and perhaps AMD (its cheaper). I had a X2 2.0 GHZ in my old laptop and Vista is only slightly faster on the Macbook with 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo.
Sure the X3100 could be faster, but I have dedicated gaming pc and an xbox and X3100 runs Aero fine and light gaming.
GM and Ford take a beating on Wall St. {Autoblog}
Oct 10th 2008 1:58PM You guys don't get it... but enjoy economic crash after crash. Free Market by strict definition means only market forces exist and not government regulation or intervention. Any regulation implements people's control and socialism. I'm not talking communism or marxism, and yes the people would have more control in a properly implement democratic system (of which the US is not 100% democratic with its winner takes all elections).
To further prove my viewpoint is the current economic crash which is the result of Business that could even decide to wait for long term profits but wanted risky profits now, because that all stock holders really want is the stock up now. The decrease of socialistic regulation allowed them to continue and they are still bending rules to give people loans and it is not purely a subprime issue. My BF works in mortgage. So what we need sadly is strict regulation on the banking industry telling them how to do their jobs, because their greed won't let them think for themselves. Which I think oddly, most Americans support securing a better economic system then one were capatalism and greed lead to crashes.
Everyday you have comments on here saying that we can't let GM or Ford fail as it would destroy the economy. We propping them up is Socialism. Now I think their products suck and they should die, but I understand they need to die slowly to protect jobs or change their cars. Now here in America we won't force them to redesign, or prove quality. We will just hand over blind money with little to not regulation (excpet CAFE that is hurting them at such a greatly timed point). So the point is Socialism has never been implemented in a proper democratic way were every vote counts. You know like in the Israeli Parliament where if Party A gets only 6% of the vote they still get 6% of the seats, and aren't a 'looser'.
And 1984 is way more about taking away the freedoms such as speech and becoming big brother. I'm not advocating that at all. I have read Animal Farm as well which touches on Communism, not socialism in how there is NO democracy which lead to a superior class and no real change for the working class. True Socialism is about equality, because honestly most of the time the work of a baker is just as important to society as a scientist. Cuz you won't be a scientist long without food. And equality will make happy workers that will create better products.
The point is we have never seen a true implementation of Socialism, and the close we have come is Scandinavia, but it is still watered down (was truest in the 70s) They have a high standard of life and people that are very happy. Deregulation is changing that, and a move away from Socialism and towards greed (or economic growth) (i've seen it first hand) has lead to the 'bankruptcy' or Iceland.
Meet the Beckers: Audi has fun at expense of BMW, Mercedes and Lexus {Autoblog}
Oct 10th 2008 1:08AM Its not true actually. I find there are just as many Audi fanbois as BMW or Mercedes. And not all Audi drivers drive well, and obviously as this ad proves think they are better than other drivers. Yes I will admit BMW drivers tend to be aggressive and Mercedes do tend to be Woman or Older. But then I'm a younger male driver in my Benz and I like to think I drive well, siginal etc... so stereotypes can be wrong and then this ad can be just offensive, and doesn't make me wanto like Audi more. And I'm a Benz driver... doubt BMW will be warmer than me, if the stereotype is true they will be even more pissed. So the most you could possibly hope out of this ad is new luxury drivers (at this point in the economy, I doubt it) and hope they find the advert more funny than childish. I buy my cars based on perceived style, specs, and perceived quality, not on which brand is cooler or which one is hated the most... hey I even own a Zune.

Oct 10th 2008 12:51AM Socialism is the people's (worker's) control over the means of production and distrubtion. This according to Webster Dictionairy. So yes Democratic (or variant) Goverment Regulation does equal Socialism in my book (which is a good thing). People need to QUIT thinking Socialism = Communism. As a Dictatorship without Freedom of Speech is not Democratic. You can have freedom of speech, competition, and still have socialist tendencies. In fact some form of Socialism will be required for continued American sustainability.
