Psystar founders claim they cracked OS X, hackintosh scene is 'all wrong' {Engadget}
Nov 11th 2009 8:03PM What's the deal with hating on Psystar?
If someone really wants OS X without giving Steve Jobs an arm and a leg why not consider a Psystar?
Zune HD 3D games video hands-on {Engadget}
Nov 11th 2009 3:54PM I agree, the graphics look great, but I won't take this seriously as a gaming device having played games in the iPhone,
It was really stupid for Microsoft to compete directly with the iPod Touch and still not fix one of the biggest complaints people had with it; no controls

Nov 10th 2009 11:14PM Well this is obviously an impressive package but it's still wrong to call the MacBook Pro an underpowered computer, for it's size it's very powerful

HTC 'carefully looking' into netbook category, wants to add 'unique value' {Engadget}
Nov 9th 2009 11:22AM don't do it HTC, I'd rather they make an Android or Moblin smartphone
and if it had phone ability (via bluetooth or something), it would be perfect

Nov 9th 2009 11:08AM Dear Engadget,
I thought we agreed to call ARM based laptops "smartbooks"
Thanks
Latest iControlPad prototype bulks up, gets handled on video {Engadget}
Nov 9th 2009 1:03AM actually it's not the case, the limited compatibility and the fact that HTC made most of the Android 1.X phones make it seem like the phones will get better with 2.0 and Sholes, but in reality as Android gets more expansive more companies will clamoring to make cheaper phones
with the iPhone, sure the platform is in the hands of Apple, but that's obviously why it has direction, Apple has this habit of upgrade products yearly and they will only improve on it
it may seem great to be able to develop for whatever hardware you want, but if you want to make money it's all about the market and if you have to choose between making something good and selling it to a handful vs making something unsatisfactory to sell it the masses, it doesn't make a very good platform to develop for
just to be clear, I'm not trying to bash 3rd party OSs like WinMo and Android, this is more the manufacturer's fault and I'm just hoping the reports that Microsoft is setting strict hardware requirements for WinMo 7 are true because it's stuff like crappy hardware that give consumers a bad experience with the OS, otherwise it could be like with netbooks in the PC market where manufacturers are racing to the bottom
Sprint Palm Pixi unboxed on video {Engadget}
Nov 9th 2009 12:51AM I'd take Pixi over a rebadged-Hero anyday, the Pre vs Droid would be a tougher battle, but personally I like WebOS better

Nov 8th 2009 10:41PM honestly it isn't the same deal,
the 3G S maybe might require a few changes but basically is backwards compatible with games for the older devices, and the older devices' ARM11 CPU and MBX GPU are still pretty decent,
with Android and WinMo you are dealing with the majority using ARM9 and no Graphics acceleration, and there's no clear direction going forward

Nov 8th 2009 6:43PM I just want to add that the competition isn't making it any easier to get real games on phones
Android, like Windows Mobile before it, suffers from hardware differences, meaning some devices have fast CPUs and GPUs and others don't, so developers get caught between making a great game for one device (DROID) vs making a mass market game for weaker devices (G1), since having a decent GPU isn't specified in Android or WinMo, manufacturers can skip that part to make cheaper phones,
The Pre on the other hand has the hardware, as ZodTTD has proved, but Palm doesn't official have the license to use the GPU, and it's not like it's accessible anyway from the current API
