Real people speak out about Wii [Update 1] {Joystiq}
Apr 28th 2006 7:38PM I'd say based on the publicity it generated Nintendo has done an excellent marketing job. Think about it, would any of you have bothered doing MARKETING RESEARCH for Nintendo if it wasn't for this name? If it was a normal, techie name like would anyone have cared beyond a day or two? Look at all this discussion about Nintendo's next console! This is kind of publicity MS can't get with a billion dollars. You might be bitchin' that it's a dumb name, but in reality it's just a controversial name which forces discussion. Now everyone, gamer or non-gamers alike, will get the news of Nintendo's new console. People don't buy console for the name or even the specs; people by consoles for the games. If they get the games part right, it could just do the improbable: outsell both Sony and MS.
While most of you are busy hatin', I'll give kudos to Nintendo marketing dept. GREAT publicity stunt. The name forces the mindset and the spotlight for video gaming back to Nintendo, at a time when almost everyone has written them off. Any Hollywood types will tell you, any publicity is great publicity.
Apple legal sends little girl running, crying to room {Engadget}

Latvian Children earn their gadgets? You mean like learning how to steal car from Finland and "export" it to Latvia for parts and pleasure? Yeah we know about that gig too.
Not that I'm so pro-American or anything, but using Latvia, one of the poortest and least well-run of the former Soviet-bloc as example of intelligence is a bit of a stretch.
BTW, I think Apple sucks ass for doing this. Just arrogance at work. It's not like they never had to deal with children u know... they have dominated the educational market every since the Apple II days. I'll bet there are tons of other example of this type of "customer service". They got so arrogant with their hold over the dumb kiddies that they couldn't care less about this future customer crap. They only want the mac-freaks and the artys-type buying their little nichy Macs so this kids can go F herself. If she grow up to be one of our fangirls then she can live with the insult anyway.
Hahaha... so many so-called "liberal" people bought into the fandom one of the most secretive, tightly-controled, authoritatian, and brain-washing organization in the world, and they all ended up buying all their over-priced crap and hating Microsoft! Gogo Apple Fanboys!
New Garmin StreetPilot geared toward North American Asians {Autoblog}
Apr 14th 2006 5:59PM Anyone who said anything bad about Asian drivers should actually try to drive in an Asian city, especially large ones like Taipei or Dehli. I doubt any one used to American pussy-ass traffic can survive even for a few minutes. Everyone there has to drive superbly while dealing with millions of taxi cabs and billions of bikes, day in and day out, without hitting anyone. Gosh the frigging American ignoramus.
Even you AA's beating up on other Asian drivers: have YOU guys drove in whatever country your parent's from? Back home your mom will always take public transportation, but in the US she's forced to drive, especially in places like LA. Only the best drivers survive in the streets of Asia. Others takes the bus or the MTR.
HTC Star Trek on sale in Asia as Dopod S300 {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 14th 2006 4:28PM Taiwan does't usually get the latest HTC phones. In fact the Dopod 838 (Wizard) was introduced several month after European debute and just 5 months (including delay) than N.A. introduction. To be only 5 months ahead of the US is almost like a slap in the face for an Asian country, especially one that's a leader in mobile technology. Not to mention the fact that they get to pay more as well. I guess that HTC heard the complaints and finally released a cool phone in Taiwan before anywhere else, and the PCHOME special even includes a friggin HTC t-shirt, as that will make it up.
All that said, to compare the V3/Razr with this phone is a joke. The Star Trek can do 100x more thing than that chick phone. It's not even in the same league.
Korea's Iljin Display promises phone projectors next year {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 14th 2006 10:07AM Why would anyone question the use of this? Bigger screen is always better. They just have to make it usable and not a battery killer and many people would want it.
That's the difference between the US and the rest of the world, especially Asia, in term of Mobile Tech. No one would be anything but extremely excited in Korea about this tech, while American users would diss it first and ignore it until everyone else has it. That kind of attitude is perhaps one reasons the US is often 3 or 4 genereations behind in term of mobile technology versus the rest of the world.
Japan launches effort to colonize moon with robots {Engadget}
Apr 14th 2006 9:35AM Great! Right about time. Looks like JAXA is not sitting idle while China sends one ShenZhou after another to space. This is not simply putting Gundam in space no more; this is about a Space Race between Japan and China. Look for the Korean govn't to pitch a bunch of money just to keep up. Most likely they'll piggy back on the Chinese space program for their own slice of Moon Colony.
American flag? That's probably the first thing the Chinese will uproot when they setup the first Moon Colony with HUMAN BEINGs. The Japanese can send all the robot or Gundam they'd want, but it's no true colony unless human can live there for a long period s of time. Yeah, cus of our govn't lack of true Space Initiatives and the lack of interest for Space and Robotic technologies from our youngsters (just look at the sarcasm on this page), the Moon will be carved up between Asian powers. While they're building Lunar Tokyo or Lunar Hong Kong, the Merkin kiddies can debate about whether the frigging flag meant we own the moon. Yeehaw!
"ROBO-ONE in the Space" promises low-orbit robot battles {Engadget}
Apr 12th 2006 1:39PM DTMFreq: at least slam the right fantasy: it's all about Gundam, not transformers. It's also quite strange for someone who comment on engaget to throw the word nerd around as an insult.
And it's easy to think this is a pipe dream, but most people probably don't know how intensely Japan and China are interested in Space-related technology. China wants a moon colony in 2020; and if their economy keep growing at the same pace they will do it. Japan wants to build large space-stations for the longest time. Both of these projects are staffed by Gundam dreaming engineers and fanboys. Do you think it's too far-fetched to build robotic suits to help with building of these large-scale projects? Only if you're a robot-fearing American I guess. :)
Meet Jupiter, Korea's smiley robot overlord, er, domestic servant {Engadget}
Apr 10th 2006 3:32PM I see this type of robotic fear-mongering everytime this and other Ameri-centric blogs posted something about robots in Asia. This is the reason why the US will never lead in the development of robotic research, which is great to all the robot-friendly Asian techno-powers. Go head, feed into your Hollywood induced techno-phobia while the Asians takes over the technology world. China will be the leading Space power when they start their moon colonization in 2020, Japan is actively developing a true hypersonic jet to kill Boeing with, while entire nation of Korea is devoted to develop commerically-viable robotic technology. Mean while, the 'Merkins are busy killing Muslims and being obsessed with Google becoming the real-life Skynet. No wonder there's a whole issue of time devoted to the eventual lost of American technological leadership.
Be afraid - new trailer for The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift {Autoblog}
Mar 21st 2006 3:19PM Oh yeah, another way to show that white boys are better than yellow boys in a Hollywood movie, even in a sport invented in Japan. Right on! Too bad there are too many Asian male faces in the movie, that's gotta go. Just have a few ugly Asian guys as bad guy, a lot of Asian chicks, and a white boy hero with his black sidekick, and man this will be again perfect Hollywood movie for white ricer boys, just like the first 2. Can't be Hollywood without being racist, ya know.
I would laugh at any Asian who actually would go and watch this POS.
