Geo Metros going for big money on high gas prices {Autoblog}
May 16th 2008 2:35PM I just wish the manufactures would go back to producing vehicles like this. They don't realize that some people prefer basic transportation that offers all around economy (good fuel economy, low repair expense, cheap parts, small wheels/tires, etc). People poke fun at my daily driver Civic hatchback. Sure, it's loud, ugly, full of rattles, and has a lot of wind noise but it was cheap to buy, it's fun to drive, the insurance is cheap, it gets 40mpg and the tires cost 28 dollars! Listen up automakers; Long live the poverty-spec car! Now... if only we could get the NHTSA to focus on teaching people to drive instead of mandating all the overbearing nanny safety features (tire pressure monitors, stability control, etc), we would be well on our way to driving economical cars again.

NHTSA mandates head protection on all cars by 2013 {Autoblog}
Sep 5th 2007 4:02PM I would agree that this is just another case of redicolous Federal mandation adding unnecessary weight, complexity, and expense to new vehicles. For those of you unaware, Federal mandation has also made tire pressure monitoring systems and vehicle stability programs standard on new light vehicles as well.
If consumers want side airbags, let them choose vehicles that offer them on their own.
The official NHTSA documents outlining every detail on the requirements can be found here:
http://dms.dot.gov/search/document.cfm?documentid=486048&docketid=29131
Feel free to file a written request for reconsideration. It is open to the public and the .pdf documents even outline how to file it.
Cruel, sick joke: Bentley Continental badged as a Hyundai {Autoblog}
Jul 6th 2007 2:40AM I'm sure the owner of that Bentley went to such great lengths in a simple attempt to blend in with the general population a bit. There is a significant portion of the 'upper class' that prefer not to advertise how filthy rich they are, yet still appreciate a fine automobile (hence the sole reason for the existence of the VW Phaeton).
For what it's worth, the richest person I know (multi-millionaire) drives a grey Dodge Omni.
iPhone activations hosed until morning? {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 30th 2007 10:53AM I am a current cingular / att customer that is upgrading to the iPhone (transferring existing number) and still waiting on activation.
It appears that existing accounts take extra time to transfer (along the lines of a few days) vs. new accounts that can be created instantly.
this blows.... after spending all that money,I want to play with my new toy!
New York Preview: Official Subaru Impreza pics and info surface {Autoblog}
Mar 29th 2007 10:59AM I'm sorry, but I just don't buy into these pictures as being the new WRX. I can't imagine Subaru producing the WRX with styling this bland and the pictures are very grainy and obviously computer generated.
Wait until we see the car in New York guys.
