Sony announces new CMOS sensors, 12+ megapixel cameraphones coming soon {Engadget}

Nov 13th 2008 9:12AM 12MP and a lens with what looks like a 1mm aperture... plus several lenses for a/f and zoom.

Yeah, good luck taking decent pics in anything but in direct full sunlight at noon.

Ericsson: 20 megapixel cellphones shooting Full HD video in 4 years {Engadget}

Nov 7th 2008 2:44PM @ Apple Magic

"Look, Its not how many mega pixels it has." - YES, very true.

"Its the quality of the CCD..." YES, large photosites are what you want. You'll get less noise at higher ISO setting generally.

"...and the shutter speed (ISO) that counts" NO, what you're looking for here is BETTER GLASS. A better lens is worth more than more pixels. Better glass means more light hits the sensor giving you more creative flexibility.

You can stick a 40MP camera in a phone if you want, but if it's looking through a 3mm wide plastic lens... your pics are going to be JUNK.

Tesla teases freshly delayed Model S sedan {Autoblog}

Oct 24th 2008 8:30AM That's quite a conspiracy theory there. But what about Occam's Razor. The simplest answer is globalization and how that has led to "turbulance" being so affective in unanticipated ways.

Sony's 'Quantum of Solace' VAIO laptop revealed as expensive, deadly {Engadget}

Oct 2nd 2008 9:33AM Well this kind of "chiclete" keyboard FIRST appeared on the Mitsubishi Pedion, announced in 1997. That was a 3.1 pound 0.7" notebook...almost 12 years ago.

I'm not familiar with any "pile of poo" that Apple has ever made. But I do remember Sony Dynamic Digital Sound, Multi-Media Compact Disc, HiFD, MiniDisc, Atrac audio, Memory Stick, UMD, and Super Audio CD...

Nintendo prepping "Wii HD" for 2011? {Engadget}

Oct 1st 2008 10:56AM Want mine? I haven't played it in months.

Ceravision developing headlights that use microwave oven technology {Autoblog}

Sep 18th 2008 9:31AM You get much more radiation exposure standing in direct noon sun than any Microwave oven could ever do to you.

Microwaves are easy to block.

Microwaves are LIGHT. Just light. Microwave ovens are really only super-efficient Easy-Bake ovens.

Coke is WAY more carcinogenic than a Microwave.

Ceravision developing headlights that use microwave oven technology {Autoblog}

Sep 18th 2008 9:26AM This looks like a microwaved sodium light source.

Sodium light sources have a red-heavy spectrum, so these headlights will be MUCH easier on the eyes of other motorists than those piercing blue spectrum heavy HID out there now.

Plus these will be brighter, and last a lot longer, making the $1000 cost of the upgrade much more attractive.

Canon's 10 megapixel SX1 IS shoots Full HD too {Engadget}

Sep 17th 2008 8:16AM Is this the newest iteration of the S3IS,S5IS...?

Stereo audio is a rare and welcome feature for sure, my S2IS was amazing. Too bad it broke in 18 months.

I won't be buying Canon again.

HTC's Touch HD unveiled in very much official glory {Engadget}

Sep 17th 2008 7:54AM High res screen is amazing, but resolution seems to be a non-issue when you have the proper OS. My iPhone (hate to say it) renders web pages better in some ways than my desktop screen. I'd prefer longer battery life and lower, better implemented resolution rendering than big-specs.

Love the tech of HTC, but 5 minutes with WinMo and I'm as frustrated as a Motorola-owner.

I'd also prefer a 2MP camera if it can take decent low-light shots. Megapixel marketing is insulting to the intelligence of those that know even a little bit about cameras.
