Jun 25th 2008 8:03PM The price is that because is for the japan market. New technology and models comes out very fast and the rate of people in japan consume product is at a high rate compare to US. Also, Japanese people are very proud of their country in that they will pay extra to buy from a Japanese company and product produce in japan.
At a side note how many component could you need for a home theater. HTPC will cover DVD, Blu ray, CD and hard drive base media. The Speakers and the receiver. Maybe if you are a gamer, PS2, PS3, XBOX and XBOX 360, Wii and SNES. That just seven components.

Apr 25th 2008 6:24AM Profit in LCD are so slim. You have to be making and selling alot of lcd to make a profit. Samsung is surviving is because the LCD they manufacture doesn't only go in to HDTV but also in to samsung branded LCD monitor, Notebook computer such as Samsung or Dell or LCD monitor that are branded Samsung or some other brand such as Dell.
Changes are that most of the LCD product you have at home are make by samsung even though the brand is not samsung.

Apr 22nd 2008 12:23PM This is for japan. People homes are not that big, they are very small so a computer in japan does double duty. A TV and computer but consider that most japanese get their info from a cellphone.

Also there is some law that prevents them from getting into US markets and US is too big and will cost too much to set up a network compare to japan which is very small land area to cover.
