UMID M1 photos definitely surface - the rest we're not so sure about {Engadget}

Feb 10th 2009 12:09PM "The device is shipping with Linux -- which may come as a surprise to whomever ordered its Windows and Internet Explorer keys. CNET states that pre-orders start February 13th for 512MB models, while according to AVING they hit the street on the 20th. .... One thing we do know, however -- we got more pics for you after the break."

It should be obvious to anyone who has been reading news sites the PAST MONTH (since CES where there were a total of about five of these on display at the Intel Booth along with the UMID booth all running Windows XP!) would know that UMID is stating Linux / XP / Vista as OS options on these! Dynamism in the US and Mobilx in Europe is taking preorders NOW. As for information and PICTURES they have been posted all over the place the past month here are a few:

Video: OQO model 2+ MID gets unboxed, previewed {Engadget}

Jan 20th 2009 12:06PM In fact OQO is using the MID term:

"“OQO is excited to work with Intel to deliver the highest performing Mobile Internet Device (MID) on the market today,” said Bob Rosin, senior vice president of sales and marketing at OQO."

Samsung Q1EX tablet shows itself, gets detailed {Engadget}

Jan 12th 2009 6:33PM I took that picture since I took it with an iPhone I changed the resolution to be lower (larger/better for the low res camera I had) than the native one for that picture, I think I set it to 800x480 for that picture. Trust me though it was a bit of a hassle to get that website up without ANY onscreen keyboard nor any open Wifi anywhere real near to Samsung's HUGE booth. But was finally able to, few mins before they closed on Sat.

OQO bringing Atom-powered Model 2+ UMPC to CES {Engadget}

Dec 31st 2008 12:40PM Atom and Touch screen are nice updates but unless they've improved the two or so hours of batter time I don't think they will have much success in the current atmosphere of all SSD MIDs such as the Aigo and Gigabyte M528 for way under $1000 even with 3G!

Psion Teklogix sending out cease & desist letters to netbook-centric websites {Engadget}

Dec 24th 2008 10:55PM If I owned a URL with Netbook in it I'd tell PSION to take it up with Intel and they come back once they settle it with Intel!! It's not the consumers who started using this term it was brought "back from the dead" by Intel:
http://www.intel.com/en_AP/Consumer/Learn/Internet-Devices/atom-netbook-detail.htm

Even at that there's plenty of sites out there that use a trademark as part of their URL and there's nothing anyone can do about it!

Psion Teklogix sending out cease & desist letters to netbook-centric websites {Engadget}

Dec 24th 2008 10:37PM So am I allowed to post online:

...about using a "Kleenex" when in reality I blew my nose in generic toilet paper?

...that I "Xeroxed" it when in fact I copied it on my own "all in one" printer?

...telling someone to "Google" it whereas I don't care what search engine he/she uses?

...talking about "PalmPilots" as to explain to those who have no clue what a PDA is?

ETC ETC ETC!!
