Uncle Walt on MobileMe: Pass on it for now {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Emails is the core of my whole business, anything and everything is in my GB's upon GB's of emails, having migrated from Outlook (not express) ,which I had used for the past decade, while the migration itself was not easy as there is no real easy way to get .PST files to a Mac and Entourage can't read them either (common MS, fix this!) I'm still at the point where I have to startup my Outlook on the virtually run XP machine at times. Anyway this is about MobileMe and not about Outlook, so what's my point?

When I bought my Apple computers I also got .mac, and as a service is was great then the iPhone came along (well for me anyway it came after I had the Apple computers) and I thought maybe finally I had an easy way of accessing ALL my emails (archived, 5 years old, whatever it might be) but the .mac email search never worked on the iPhone so I was still stuck with the only solution being carrying around 20-30GB of emails somehow (which I've given up on since I sold my last $2000 OQO ).

So along comes MOBILE me, the name sounds promising, as it would have the main focus on the MOBILE (read iPhone) I have, and I was hoping that perhaps now finally my main dilemma of not being able to readily fast find ANY email from my email library would be somewhat of a breeze and wouldn't require me to carry them or/and sync them with some kind of PPC type of device, but NO :(

Now I can't even access .mac (now .me) at all on the iPhone it just tells me kindly to use it on the native email, calendar and contact programs. But that isn't enough for me!!!

Since I am not an AT&T customer I have little or no use of the iPhone 3G so I'm still on the 1.1.4 iPhone level with considering to update to 2.0 but since the built in MAIL app on the iPhone does NOT have any SEARCH (!!) function I would have to scroll through some 30-50 pages of emails on it to find an email that is a few days old! :(

From my understanding the 2.0 doesn't improve things on this front either.

A Mac tablet? Not just yes, but 'heck yes' {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

While the iPhone does what it does very nicely and most likely fills the void for most people (even if they won't agree to getting an Apple device out of some kind of principle), there is a group and significant % of us visiting sites like this one that want more of a UMPC with us at all times for various reasons, some professional reasons others less so.

Although I am very new at being an Apple owner (both computer and iPhone btw) I really like the products now, however I still need Windows (XP is what I prefer) for many reasons, now the only Windows natively running devices I still have is the EEEpc and a Dell x51v, why? Because Apple is not offering anything in the size of either of those that could do what I need them for.

More than a year before the iPhone was available I was all hyped by this (what I like to call the "Adam's Apple" :)) winner of Engadget's WWJD 3
http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/27/wwjd-3-results/

Ok it might seem a bit "old" now when are already used to the iPhone and even have a 2nd generation sort of but still I would pay (too much) for a device that would be anything from the original iPod size (as in the link) to say around the OQO UMPC (www.oqo.com) if it had full OS touch screen as the iPhone and one of the most important features for myself, at least a full day's battery life, or something like the (non 3G) iPhone's battery time (works for me all day as I use a 2nd phone w/full real qwerty keyboard as the main phone).

Am I alone in wanting such a UMPC or call it MID if you want? If it had full OS X I could also install Windows application in at least 4-5 different ways, thereby opening the door to just about any application I might ever need/want!

Meizu's 16GB MiniOne M8: $989 in 2008? {Engadget}

Ryan Negri and Negri Investments deals with COLLECTING RENT FROM TENANTS as an Aparment Management company. See my posts above and links.

Meizu's 16GB MiniOne M8: $989 in 2008? {Engadget}

Jun 30th 2007 7:45PM "Thomas Ricker @ Jun 30th 2007 4:15PM

It is a fact that some no-name importer has the M8 up for sale for $989"

Why do you call an online site by Ryan Negri (with UNSATISFACTORY RECORD with BB after 6mo of being online) who deals with APARTMENT MANAGEMENT an "no-name importer" his "Negri Investments" collects rent from tenants as seen from his site:
http://web.archive.org/web/20040330121556/http://www.negriinvestments.com/

Not sure what your definition of "up for sale" is but there nothing legit about the Negri Electronics prices nor tactics.

It wouldn't be accurate to call this company an importer of phones, there are also other reasons for SERIOUS CONCERN in regards to this company!

Please refer to this thread:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1107812&page=12&pp=15

Things to consider:

A) "Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to failure to respond to a complaint."

B) "NEGRI INVESTMENTS" is registered as a company that handles "Residential Property Manager"

C) The "company" was "Created: 2006-12-06"

Do you really want to send a company dealing with APARTMENT MANAGEMENT $1000 for a mobilephone, that you might have to contact BBB about later, only to get NO RESPONCE?
