Blu-ray vs. 1080p VOD? No contest, says analyst {Engadget HD}

Aug 27th 2008 10:56AM Streaming less than 40Mbit/s isn't Blu-ray quality. Period. And we have to remember that Blu-ray is compressed already. Any further compression after that means you are loosing some quality.

Blu-ray vs. 1080p VOD? No contest, says analyst {Engadget HD}

Aug 27th 2008 10:54AM It's unlikely that DISH or DirecTV can push to YOU uniquely 40Mbit/s to your satellite, so I'm calling BS on that. In fact, this "HD" stuff that all video manufacturers are pushing is really shady. 4-6Mbit/s is barely DVD quality!

The Rumor Room: iTunes Unlimited {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 20th 2008 12:51PM I'm guessing if that's if you don't already have a MobileMe subscription. I was hoping to get a discount if you didn't already have a MobileMe subscription.

That's ok, Apple gave me a 60 day trail extension so i haven't been charged yet!

AT&T exec talks U-verse, HD plans {Engadget HD}

Aug 12th 2008 4:41PM Still waiting for U-verse to come to downtown Houston. It's a shame that the 4th largest city doesn't get any love unless you live in a rich area.

Aug 11th 2008 9:36PM The problem isn't that video cards can't do this already; it's the efficiency at which it's done. A dedicated H.264 encoder would be far more efficient for decoding Blu-ray movies than any video card could because you don't have to power a huge graphics card to do so.

Xbox 360's new Dashboard game install demoed on video {Engadget}

Aug 11th 2008 10:52AM Gone. Really sucks for people who paid for them too unless Microsoft is making the skinners give us a free theme update for what we paid for.

Intel: oh yeah, and we're calling Nehalem Core i7 {Engadget}

Aug 10th 2008 5:15PM Pure speculation follows:

Pentium I-IV - named as such
Pentium V - Core
Pentium VI - Core 2
Pentium VII - Core i7

Of course, I still think it's a horrible name. This is where consumers get confused because the marketing department of a company can't get it's damn act together and use the LOGICAL name for future products.

Definitely wish they had gone with Core 3. Would have made things simpler in the long run.

mophie tries to make up for iPhone 3G's shortcomings with new Juice Pack {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 10th 2008 1:10PM I don't know. I use my iPhone 3G every now and then and the battery hasn't fully run out on my yet. But it didn't last too long when I first got it. Maybe they need to be primed with a few cycles first?

What happened to NetShare? - UPDATED {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 1st 2008 3:24PM It works for iChat if you tell it you are using a SOCKS5 proxy.

Push notification services now in hands of select few iPhone devs {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 1st 2008 11:37AM As long as AOL and Twitter got it, then I don't care about other developers. AIM right now sucks!
