Acer's 18.4-inch Aspire 8920G laptop gets reviewed {Engadget}
May 2nd 2008 10:11AM Although everyone secretly wants one, I'm not gonna say everyone buys one. However, there quite a few people that do. Like myself, I bought the HDX. Yes it's large and heavy and not really a 'laptop' but I love the large screen real-estate, the great specs and the sheer awesomeness of it. I travel about 4 times a year and havent had a problem transporting it on my shoulder at all. True not ideal for everyday Uni but if you're after gaming and entertainement on large HD screen that can still be portable when required, such as taking over to mates, these type of laptops are perfect and are getting more and more popular. There definately is a market for larger desktop-replacement laptops and I hope it continues as I am a big fan of them!..

May 2nd 2008 10:07AM I second that! I would love to see comparisons between this and the HDX. I still prefer the look and feel of my HDX to the Acer.

Imation wants you to lose its Atom flash drives too {Engadget}
Apr 9th 2008 12:58PM Why all the fuss about losing these drives? I'm sure most people won't regardless of how small they are. Plus, it'll be nice to have it as a permanent ready booster attached to a desktop or even laptop without having to remove it & not being too obtrusive...

Apr 8th 2008 3:54AM - Most companies charge a lot of ink. Did you not notice that when you bought the printer? Did you not notice that printers are quite cheap? That's because they make their profits from the ink mostly. It's a business model being used for years.
- ALL manufacturers add bloat-ware to OEM computers, Sony in fact wanted to charge you $50 just to uninstall them for you! ALL software is removable, including Vongo. Here's how:
[Click on Start, Run and type MSCONFIG. Go to the Startup tab and look for isuspm and uncheck it. Click Apply and then OK and restart your PC. When your computer restarts you will get a message that says "System is running using Selective Startup." Just check " Don't show this message or launch the system configuration utility when Windows Starts" and click OK.
This should effectively stop your PC from trying to run or reinstall Vongo.
Once this is done you should also look for the Vongo folder under C:\Program Files and delete it.]
Granted, I agree with you, this shouldn't be the case but it is an OEM. If you really dont like it, buy your own insanely-overpriced copy of Windows.
- 'This', is an issue that can happen anywhere anytime, it's happened on Audio CDs, some gadget toys and EVEN iPods were shipped with viruses. It happens, you cant be too careful but ultimately mistakes and mishaps happen. The point is the company is aware of it, warning others and taking responsibility instead of denying or saying it's not their fault like that digital photo viewer trojan at first.
Anyway, yes it's a negative impact but not something that warrants your hatred as you need to see the positive aspects as well, HP produce some of the best hardware in my opinion and love them for it.. All corporate companies have flaws and are hated for them endlessly, whether Sony, HP, Dell(!), Apple, Microsoft, doesnt matter, there's no perfect winner. Take it easy & calm down! :)
