Sep 14th 2007 8:40AM Wait, it was thought to not have bluetooth?!??! Wow, it woud be so much more with bluetooth. Firstly wireless headphones via A2DP is such an insanely awesome thing, thats a majore deal breaker for me.
Secondly if they allowed bluetoooth GPS units to work with it, and released a GPS mapping program they would make much more profits seeing the crazy popular GPS market we are currently in. Seems like a major no brainer to me.
I was under the impression that such a basic function as bluetooth was included. Apple seems to make genius products, but they always forget to put in a couple of no brainer features ala the iphone and its lack of 3g.

Phone looks meh, still not thin enough with that useless keyboard that just takes up space. How about perfecting text entry so a keyboard is not necessary anymore. The styling is still 90's as well, they should take some cues from the Q styling, nice black svelte exterior with rubberized coating.
The specs are decent though, the memory is awesome, mucho welcome. Whats the deal with the rumor that bluetooth and wifi will NOT run together due to sharing a common antena?
Overall meh, but of course I will be first in line to buy it.

Mar 2nd 2007 10:11AM You guys state in your "review" that the H9 is unchanged from the H5. From what I have read they removed the feature of the H5 which picked up voice from the ear canal and just put in a plain microphone with dsp into the H9.
This is a pretty HUGE fact to have missed in the review. Can anyone confirm or deny this? It was a great headset when it had the ear canal feature, but now it seems like it's just a plain headset.

Dec 22nd 2006 1:45PM My GF picked one up yesterday for me. My main reason is that I have a convertable and any other headset sucks. It's too cold to test with the top down, but otherwise it is pretty good. Better even than the Blueant which I also have. Earpiece volume is surprisingly clear and loud, which is a rare treat these days. Not super loud, but better than any other headset I have used. It has 6 levels of volume.
Others who have heard me say I sound crystal clear, but I havent tested in a super noisy environment yet.
Design overall is meh. It's a little large, and I thought the outside would be some cool magnesium alloy or something, but it's only cheapie plastic. The talk button is tiny and a bit hard to find in a rush. The fit is very meh, the earpiece is hard to situate correctly, and does not stay in the ear canal, a longer design that plugs into the canal would have been awesome, more like the bluespoons. The over the ear piece is HORRID, it is stiff and is a major pain to affix to the ear, taking a good several seconds to put on. Once on its fairly comfy and light, but moves around a lot with everyday head movement, needing constant adjusting to keep the earpiece sound pointed into the ear canal.
Overall a good unit. Not sure if Im keeping it, will have to put down the top in this 30 degree weather to test the wind function.

Jul 6th 2006 3:08PM Wow just read that Verizon just released the SCH-A990, QVGA screen, EVDO, 3.2Megapixel camera, etc etc. Also just read that Verizon is releasing the KRZR.
Yeah I understand the Katana is a low to mid end phone, but I'm still trying to figure out what the high end phones are, or when they are coming out. Every week there is a new phone for Verizon, and half a dozen for GSM carriers, but Sprint... I mean there hasn't even been a smartphone past the years old i600, pitiful.

Jul 5th 2006 5:16PM Sprint continues its decline I see. Sprint is the new Verizon, with very little innovation in hardware and moronic releases such as this one which has no EVDO!!! What were you thinking Sprint, with EVDO this would have been a pretty decent phone.
Anyhow Sprint needs to take some lessons from Verizon, which used to lag behind Sprint in plans and hardware so much it was a running joke. Now it is quite the opposite.
And yes I am a Sprint customer.
