RIM developing "Apple Killer" touchscreen BlackBerry? {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 28th 2008 1:47AM Besides what packetsniffer said, doesn't that model to the right look like it has, um, a *physical* keyboard? Just because a device has a touchscreen doesn't mean that you have to *type* on the screen.

Sprint lambasted for disconnecting whiners, notorious roamers {Engadget Mobile}
Jul 10th 2007 8:15PM Hey, what's up with the credit? I submitted this story a few days ago. Where's the love with the credit?
Anyway, I understand terminating people who are costing a company more than they're paying (and 10+ calls per month probably gets in that range).
However, I also sympathize with those customers who had legitimate issues with billing or service. If Sprint can't fix those kinds of problems after one call, I'd call back, too.
But I have no sympathy for anybody trying to get personal information about other customers (pretexting). They should be drawn and quartered.

WM6 Standard's Office apps hacked for Smartphone {Engadget Mobile}
May 12th 2007 5:06PM Sheri, what do you mean that "MS wont allow me to upgrade to" Windows Mobile 6? Microsoft is trying to get OEMs to provide upgrades by offering it free (maybe).
Also remember that Microsoft doesn't produce any consumer-installable versions of Windows Mobile. Windows Mobile requires customization by the device OEM and the OEM is the company that makes upgrades available (or not).
If there's no WM 6 upgrade for your Q (and mine), place the blame where it belongs -- on Motorola, not Microsoft.

Unless things have changed, only one person at a time can connect to a Slingbox. So Sling would need to most one box for every simultanous user. How many devices do you think that would require?
DualCor cPC gets specs, launch date -- but no radios {Engadget}
May 11th 2006 6:12PM Hmmm, maybe DualCor should change their slogan from "Your Personal Computer, PDA, and Wireless Connectivity Device" to "Your Personal Computer, PDA, and Emasculated Connectivity Device".
However, their comparison with the UMPC still lists "802.11b/g, Bluetooth, 3G*", with the asterisk seeming to reference "3G connectivity provided through DualCor partner channel". They probably just haven't updated that page yet, but UMPCs aren't *that* old that the page should be out-of-date already.
Philips patent app would force you to watch commercials, both live and recorded {Engadget}
Apr 18th 2006 9:14PM Actually, I think #50 (and #38, even though he was being sarcastic) have it right -- Philips is patenting this to keep other companies from using it. Philips has opposed these anti-consumer things in the past -- remember their campaign to avoid requiring content protection in home electronics?
#34, you really need to get back on your meds. Wishing cancer on people because of a patent that they haven't even tried to use is just childish.
It's our 2nd birthday and we're giving you the presents! {Engadget}
Mar 9th 2006 2:43AM It's hard to pick one story from two years, so I'll tell my favorite recent story -- Engadget 1985.

The reasons are that it was humorous and an interesting walk down memory lane.

Mar 6th 2006 8:02PM There are way too many posts to pick an absolute favorite, but the Pope's iPod is my favorite recent post. It's interesting, funny and anything that makes fun of the Pope can't be all bad.
