Prototype device detects, disables digital cameras {Engadget}

Jun 19th 2006 12:22AM Most Speed Camera's now use digital camera's to take photo's of speeding cars. A system mounted on a car that works with this quickly enough could avoid a whole lotta tickets

eCinema and AUO tout CRT-quality LCDs {Engadget}

Jun 16th 2006 2:33AM I think you might be correct in your link between this photo and the movie, but its depressing that the first thing you think of when you see a woman surrounded by rose petals is a movie.

Where is the romance these days, thats what I would like to know

Pepsi posters let you plug in your headphones {Engadget}

Jun 7th 2006 9:11PM "Pepsi isn't the first. There was an Absolut campaign in Sydney which featured a track by Lenny Kravitz early this year. Took a while before people worked out what the jacks were for though."

I walked past one and swore that I saw a headphone jack in the billboard, my friends said I was crazy, fair enough. But coming back past it there was in fact a headphone jack in the absolut poster, so being the trendy consumer that I am I plugged my ipod headphones into it. Although it was a cool advertising campaign idea, I wouldnt do it again. The looks I got from the people walking paast were pretty strange.

Creative releases ZEN Aurvana earphones {Engadget}

May 29th 2006 9:33PM I have a pair of the sony canalphones and they have the flimsiest wiring ever, I was sitting on the couch and i shuffled along a bit, the wire caught, twisted and the protective rubber ripped open. If these are lighter, expect them to be even worse

Apple patents workout music matching {Engadget}

May 25th 2006 11:11PM The intriguing question here is:

How come there is so much speculation about pitch/speed changes to do with excercise.

If they can get the damn ipod to do speed changes then the more logical application is a decent bit of Mp3 DJ kit

Dell gives retail another shot {Engadget}

May 22nd 2006 8:42PM Perhaps this is an attempt at a new market. Many people wont buy until they have been able to engage with the product. In addition, if I walk into the Dell store with Cash I can give it to the people there, they can guide me through the order processand then can assure me it will arrive at my door. I feel like business has been done etc etc etc. Its a grab perhaps at the older market?

I dont see the need personally, but then again I am a hardcore, engadget- and slashdot-reading, fire breathing, trogdor imitating nerd who forges his own computer parts from molten silicon and gold

Microsoft "Wild Thing" text entry system for keypads {Engadget Mobile}

May 3rd 2006 10:26PM I use a motorola, It cannot keep up with the speed of input that my mother is capable of, let alone me or my younger text-obsessed siblings. In many cases it decides to replace little words such as 'it' with 'gt' (the first letters on the relevant keys, for those of you playing at home)

I used to have a nokia and its predictive text wasnt much better either, for the most part it is just quicker for me to use the multiple button push mode because I can detect mistakes i have made without waiting for the screen to show them, as opposed to predictive text where i might fire off a message and wait 20 seconds for the thing to show up on the screen, then 5 minutes going back through the message deleting the mistakes and retyping them in.

Frustration to the nth degree

Pure Digital's Point & Shoot Video Camera {Engadget}

May 2nd 2006 9:18PM I had a similar Idea, but i figured cellphones were the obvious choice. But instead of mirrors they use a twistable or rotatable ccd housing, its cheaper.
