iPhone 2.0.1 now available through iTunes {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 4th 2008 11:18PM Erik, where is the cut and paste you promised us last week?

It doesn't exist until we see it. Thus, it still doesn't exist.

T-Mobile 3G service coming October 1 to 27 markets {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 30th 2008 10:19PM PN:

1) No one is licenced at 2100 in the U.S. This just means that both T-Mo 3G and iPhone will work in 2100 licenced areas (read: Europe and the rest of the 3G world).

2) Even if you put a T-Mo SIM in a 1900 3G device, the T-Mo account will not roam on AT&T 3G. At least not anytime soon.

Sorry!

RIM finds security flaw in BlackBerry Enterprise Server {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 28th 2008 10:00AM Erik, until it is in our hands, it doesn't exist. I'm sure you would pay everyone else the same courtesy if they mentioned an upcoming RIM feature.

AT&T, O2 post updates on iPhone 3G stock situation, promise they don't have a secret cache {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 24th 2008 1:59PM I am curious how many of those phones are "in transit".

Here is why I ask: I was put on direct fulfillment on day 1 (July 11th @10am), and told the phone was in the warehouse and would arrive in 3 to 5 days. 7 days later, with my direct fulfillment still on backorder, I walked into an Apple store and purchased one on the spot. There is no question that Apple kept the lion's share of the inventory for itself. When I tried to cancel my direct fulfillment I was told I had to wait until it arrived in the store to "return" it. So I waited. 3 days later, I got th call that my direct fulfillment had arrived. When I "returned" it, the guy next to me asked the store if he could buy it. He was told no because this had my name on it and had to be returned to the warehouse.

SO, at least one 16G Black was shipped from the warehouse to the store AFTER I tried to cancel my order. It rode the truck all the way to MN just so I could return it and have it get back on a truck and go to another warehouse. If this is happening one phone at a time, there have to be quite a few, maybe hundreds (more?) of iPhones riding around on planes and trucks for no reason. I know this isn't even remotely significant to AT&T or Apple, but hundreds of phones, thousands of dollars in shipping expense, and all the wasted paperwork are significant to a small business owner who wishes he could throw away that much money without having a coronary.

Hands-on with T-Mobile @Home {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 25th 2008 12:50PM TJ,

Considering the price, and the fact that most home users probably don't have a fax machine, and that most users with broadband probably don't need a modem, I'l bet that those issues probably don't bother T-Mobile.

If Callvantage is better for your needs, cool.

World's first iPhone 3G on sale in New Zealand a day before the US {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 25th 2008 10:04AM The only news here is that Engadget understands the concept of time zones.

T-Mobile details prorated ETF policy, dodges rotten vegetables {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 24th 2008 3:58PM I'm a huge T-Mobile fan. I have had at least one line of service with them for over 10 years (back to Aerial). At times I have had up to 3 lines of service. That said,

This is not a prorated ETF. They are great for offering 1 and 2 year contracts, but why can't they make the ETF easy.

1 Yr Contract - $200 divided by 12 months = $16.67. Reduce the ETF by $16.67 (or even $17!) each full month of service.

2 Yr Contract - $200 divided by 24 months = $8.33. Reduce the ETF by $8.33 each full month of service.

That's my understanding of "prorated".

A look at AT&T's pipeline, early March 2008 edition {Engadget Mobile}

Mar 2nd 2008 6:13PM Erik,

Your argument justifies staying with what you have. If you want to have something different AND AT&T will cripple the N95, stay with the legitimate N95 and show AT&T's victims what they pay in terms of limited functionality for a locked phone.

I am looking forward to comparing my N95 with an AT&T unit. I got mine well before they did. I got one with full HSPA network support, as opposed to AT&T blocking it, like they do on the Tilt. And, mine will probably have a lot more media functionality.

I'll wait and see how unique the real N95 is when the AT&T version is shipped. By then, the real N96 may be available.

Microsoft buys Danger, Windows Mobile Sidekick imminent {Engadget Mobile}

Feb 11th 2008 12:41PM I thought Microsoft didn't want to become a manufacturer of cellular phones? Does this mean that they will suck all of the intelectual property out of Danger and toss out the hardware components, or may Microsoft actually put it's brand on a Windows Mobile phone after all?

Made-to-order cellphones: dubious quality included free of charge {Engadget Mobile}

Feb 5th 2008 3:42PM No mention of EDGE or UMTS, but it does mention GPRS (even under supported media??), so I would assume that is your first reason for price savings.

Other interesting features: "Dual Bluetooth", "Windows Mobile (or equal)"

I like that it "Works Worldwide (except Europe)" I wouldn't worry about it though. Europe isn't a big cell phone continent. (Obscure Spinal Tap reference)
