Oct 23rd 2009 10:05PM That's a common misconception, but it is incorrect. Cell phones do not interfere with airplane electronics. I'm not aware of the reason behind why the FAA and airlines insist on telling people this is the reason for their "no cell-phones" policy.

I'd buy one of these things and have it implanted under my kid's skin. He'd never know how I always knew where he was. He'd just grow up thinking all parents know where their kids are at all times.

Sep 19th 2009 1:13AM I'm amazed such few people are posting about this issue. It's a big enough issue to be featured on Engadget, and it's not just a fluke of a problem either. My girlfriend has the Tour, and we picked up the phone on the release day. Within 3 weeks, when you would scroll the track ball to the right, the cursor would move left. You'd have to scroll probably 4 pages worth of movement in order to get it to move in the right direction, and then to the spot you need. It is ridiculous. I've had a Bold for about 6 months now and I've never had any issues. This phone is getting exchanged... it's not usable as is.

Sep 18th 2009 12:23PM I knew they were playing stupid games from the beginning when they didn't have critical features like cut and paste, or MMS, or the Stereo Bluetooth Headset Profile... and then, low and behold, they roll out an entirely new phone... and then an entirely new OS update that has those features. So does this current situation sound similar? They're clearly holding out so they can trickle the features to you over the next few years. Their whole game plan is to force you to wait, and force you to pay for the few features in future revisions of new phones. If they allow Google to add this feature to their phone, they're killing their future business. That's why I have a Blackberry Bold. I've never had to deal with any of that BS.

Sep 17th 2009 11:47AM Are you kidding? Food services don't do background checks. That would eliminate 99.99999% of the applicant pool. The background check probably costs over $100, and with the turnover of jobs like those, the employee is expected to last about a week... and with the $7 an hour wage the food services company is praying to god the employee even shows up on his first day. Who wants to work with food besides criminals, anyway? ;)

Sep 14th 2009 3:53PM I work with AVCHD footage professionally and I'm really quite impressed with the quality. After I updated my machine to a Core i7, and updated my software to Sony Vegas 9, I can work with the footage just like it was regular MPEG-2 footage. It's as smooth and responsive as I could wish for. The secret to getting great results is knowing how to process it (codecs, settings, bitrates, etc) and that's something few people understand.

Anyone who's new to photography shouldn't be concerned too much with mastering any one particular camera. Growing as a photographer has nothing to do with your camera. Understanding how to be a good photographer has nothing to do with your camera.
I think you'll notice a trend among buyers of DSLRs, that they think a better camera will make them a better shooter. A better device only enhances the abilities of those who have already acquired the skills needed to utilize them. Until then, literally ANYTHING will do.
As for studio photography, the official Canon Press Release names it as an "Integrated Speedlite Transmitter" which will be completely and utterly pointless for anyone who does studio work. Nobody that I know of even uses Speedlights except for doing some small outdoor thing. Now, if they integrated a Pocket Wizard transmitter then maybe I'd go and buy a 7D.
