Are Sprint Movies worth it? {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 20th 2006 1:12PM Let's see...
Sprint has the PPC6700... Treo 700p, and 700wx. All of these have the screen real estate needed, battery supply, EVDO, and more importantly people who get PDA phones will more than likely have data plans and are more willing to view streaming movies on their smartphones...

So why don't any of these phones support sprint tv, or sprint movies??? DUH!!

Treo 700wx launch materials leaked {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 30th 2006 12:18PM to Erwos (number 2 above) I have the 6700, and will be switching to the 700WX. I think you have the 700wx and the 700p confused. This new device is a Windows Mobile 5 PDA, like the 6700, so they'll run the same programs. The resolution is 240x240, the 6700 is 320x240 so resolution is slightly different, however it really isn't as dramatic a change as the 700p's 320x320. I thought wi-fi was going to be a big deal for me too, but I find myself using EVDO much more than wi-fi, and I can just pop in a WiFi SD card if I really need it, so Im not worried.

Here are my reasons Im leaving the 6700 for a 700wx...

1. Its much easier to use the PHONE!! Palm lets you dial from the today screen-- either type the phone number, or the contact name... with my 6700 I have either slide the keyboard out (can be cumbersome at times), or try typing on the screen with my finger.

2. More useable memory. 6700-- after I cleaned the junk out of ROM that I didn't need, I still only had about 30MB to use for programs vs. 60MB in the 700wx.

3. More accessories. I really miss being able to carry my phone (I used to have a treo 650) on my belt without it dropping every other day. The treo is so common that you can find accessories for them in just about every electronics store, online, etc. I've lost 2 styli so far and had to wait almost a week for replacements-- with the treo, I would just go to Best Buy or Circuit City and grab them...

4. Treo Ease of use-- Even in its windows form, the tweaks Palm has done to enhance the user interface is great. Voice Mail on-screen controls, photo speed dial, the hardware ringer on/off switch, and a DOT ON THE SCREEN WHEN YOU ARE IN CAPS/NUMBER MODE on the keyboard... on the 6700 all of this is greatly missed!

So I urge you to just pop into a sprint store and compare the 2 devices when it comes out... I think you'll be happy you did.

To #5 Jim-- Its exactly the same as the Verizon version, the 700w, except it has double the memory. The "750w" is simply a slightly smaller GSM version of this same phone... No real differences except the lack of antenna housing.

To #6 Shon-- Its the same size as the 700p, 700w, 650 and 600. and smaller than most other pocket pc phones with simalar feature sets/...
