VMWare's Fusion begins private beta {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 3rd 2006 10:35AM As a parallels user, I'm not exactly buzzing with excitement with this. It's not as if parallels is doing a bad job, it's fast and slick to use, and I couldn't really ask for much more.

RE about point 2: while that does seem to be the only feature that seems quite niftily above parallels, parallels do have tools for windows that allow you to have a shared folder, and with parallels networking you can mount anything you wish anyway.

Hampton Articulation adds SIP-compliant VoIP to Palm devices {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 24th 2006 8:46PM I can confirm it works on my treo 650.

I have only rung myself very quickly, so I cannot vouch for it's quality or reliability, but I can say it definately makes the connection.

I am using sipgate.co.uk for the service. My treo is then connected to the internet over bluetooth to my macbook pro using "Missing Sync for Palm OS", which then goes over wifi to the telephone lines to my home phone.
It's hardly elegant, but it's getting there.

My mobile has an 0845 number! (for non brits, it's all proffesional like), and I can change it whenever. could be handy...

Linux comes to the HTC Universal {Engadget Mobile}

Mar 7th 2006 1:37PM The rest of my comment seem to get deleted:

That's most definately me.
Having a phone with windows mobile was the worst decision. It didn't want to work with my PC too well, and when i moved to Mac it was too much to bear. And the UI on WM is anything but sleak, nor is it stable.
I really want a Palm Treo but I don't know if I want it enough to sacrafice WIFI and all the possibilties that brings.
But this linux breakthrough does combine what would be my dream: HTC with a decent OS (even if it isn't PalmOS)

Brits may face fines for watching TV on cellphones {Engadget Mobile}

Feb 13th 2006 12:52PM There needs to be a debate here in the UK about the future licensing of TV across the media.
While I am for Licensing (The BBC is the best thing ever), why should some be fined for watching on your mobile while not on google video? What makes the difference?
