The official Autoblog 'Current Car(s)' Readership Survey {Autoblog}
May 24th 2006 12:11PM * What is it? (Be specific!)
2004 Pontiac GTO - Black on Black w/ automatic
* Did you buy your current vehicle(s) new, or used?
New. Bought it right before the '05 came out. $5k discount and Grand Prix trade in meant I got it for about $23k out of pocket.
* How long have you owned it?
1.5 Years
* What was the reason for choosing this particular vehicle?
The engine and the sound.
* I love/like/hate my ride because...
I hate it because it's a GTO :). Actually, I don't mind, but the automotive press and car enthusiast who have never driven one hate the fact that the GTO nameplate is on it. If it had been called the Pontiac Monaro or Holden the reception would have been warmer.
Other gripes are slow steering and the fact that I got talked out of the manual tranny. "Smart seats" are quite dumb.
I love the engine, love the interior, and I actually really like the styling. I love that they're fairly rare. I get a big kick out of seeing another GTO on the street.
* Any modifications, or unique original features/options?
Tuned up the computer for more power/speed up shifts. Got a set of HP Evo wheels + Fuzion ZRi's from an awesome fellow GTO driver.
* If you were to sell it tomorrow, what would replace it? (Let's be realistic, OK?)
Used R32, A3, or maybe a Mitsu EVO. I love my Goat, but it's frustrating as hell to never be able to explore the limits anywhere besides on-ramps and interstate passing. Something with a bit more enthusiasm for turning and staying planted at 9/10's. I'd give up some shove and top-end for that.
Love the Impala by the way. I've always had a thing for that car.

Apr 19th 2006 9:16AM I'd have to say I'm excited about this too. Nothing burns away the hours like a quality RTS. Here's hoping they don't go too gimmicky on it.
I really hope the Halogen guys don't go back to square one because of this....

The Official Autoblog 'First Car' Readership Survey {Autoblog}
Apr 17th 2006 12:48PM My first car was a '98 Honda Accord sedan. White with an automatic tranny. My parents bought this as our family's learner car. It racked up miles like nobody's business. This of course was not the sort of car that made a huge statement about one's machismo or inherent "bling," but for Point-A-to-Point-B, it was all I could have asked for.
A great memory associated with this car was the way it vibrated while doing 120 down a long straight. Looking back, with 2 other guys in the car, that was absolutely stupid.
This car was with my family for about 5 years.
No pangs of loss. It drove like a go-kart, I remember that. The 4-cylinder also got great gas mileage, which is only a fond memory now that I'm driving a GTO.
