Thanks for the reference viz wi-fi browser vs internet browser. That speeded things up a lot.
Another look at the BlackBerry 8320 for T-Mobile {Engadget Mobile}
Oct 8th 2007 6:48PM My observations on my 8320:
1. Wi-fi drains the battery FAST;
2. The UMA feature works with any wi-fi hotspot, but works best on a T-Mo hotspot, such as at Starbucks.
3. The UMA savings in minutes is probably not worth the $20 plan if you have any reasonable plan or talk mostly at night and on the weekends. (I have the $10 promotional plan that I'm canceling soon.)
4. The processor slows things down a lot. It's a problem if you do more than read email and make voice calls. Any surfing, document viewing or heavy MMS texting is slow slow slow.
Those are the negatives. But on the plus side, the phone looks and feels great. It has a great screen and keyboard. And the email app is classic first rate Blackberry. I upgraded from an 8700g. This was a good step up in my opinion for what I do, which is almost all PIM centric with a little MMS and texting thrown in.
Latest Palm Centro leaked shot looks official {Engadget Mobile}
Aug 25th 2007 6:04PM Make it GSM unlocked, anything but Garnet or Windows but with the easy GUI of Palm of yore, with a camera, and I just might go back - I liked their desktop app better than anything Blackberry syncs with.
Alienware talks new media center, CableCARD for Hangar 18 {Engadget}
Aug 17th 2007 6:36PM 5 Alienware computers?? Dude, it took you that long to figure out bad they are??
I bought one and that was it for me. Never ever again. It has been the worst computer I have ever had in 20 years. It's slow, quirky, freezes, shuts down for no reason, is loud, and can't handle more than a couple of applications at a time. It's just awful. I've gone to Apple, but if I had to have a Windows machine, I'd go with a generic Dell.
Early review round-up of the Motorola Q9 {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 3rd 2007 9:24PM I saw one of these at Union Square in San Francisco today. A couple of Asian tourists had it and were taking pics with it. Is it out in Asia?
Richards' Rant -- Not The First Time {TMZ}
Nov 22nd 2006 10:16PM I thought poking fun at one's own ethnic group was "ok." Isn't Richards Jewish? I think he is.
Alienware's Sentia m3200 business-minded laptop reviewed {Engadget}
Apr 4th 2006 3:05PM I bought an Alienware m3400 and for the life of me, I don't know why. Initially, I thought the Alienware logo was unique. But when I saw it in real life, it seemed just too over the top. In terms of performance, no better than average and perhaps 10% more expensive than an equivalent Dell. And yes, it is for use in a business. But in my own defense, if I had thought clients would need to see it, I wouldn't have bought it precisely because of the Alien head. Oh well.
