Verizon fattens VCAST service, offers full-length episodes of The Office, CSI, and more {Engadget Mobile}
Sep 11th 2008 6:06PM VCAST has always been a bit clunky and I agree that the novelty wears off quickly and you don't watch much video after the first week. I popped open my phone after reading this and found a few full episodes -- but broken down into segments of wildly varying length. Aside from being stupid, it also makes the VCAST menus even clunkier. Fail.
How would you change Chumby? {Engadget}
Apr 12th 2008 3:58AM Agreed. Are there reasonably priced Flash licenses for individuals? $699 is insane.
MythBuster vents about common tech headaches, offers fixes {Engadget}
Jan 31st 2008 1:28PM I read this article when the magazine arrived. I like Jamie (and MythBusters) a lot but I thought the article was boring and poorly written. I also don't think it warrants mentioning on engadget. *shrug*
Comcast beefs up HD lineup in DC Metro area {Engadget HD}
Dec 24th 2007 11:03AM Several people have noted that contacting Rick Germano, Senior Vice President of Customer Operations, gets a person with a clue to answer your question. After I was unable to get an answer about HD channels in DC (or even for anyone on the phone to admit that HD Theatre != Discovery HD), I used that form on the Comcast site and got a call back the next day. Others have received similarly fast responses from someone who has real information (even if it isn't what you want to hear). You'll find the form by going to www.comcast.com, click on Contact Us, click on "Send an e-mail to Rick" in the box to the right. Just ask a succinct and polite question and I bet they return a polite answer (by phone if you leave your number).
Comcast beefs up HD lineup in DC Metro area {Engadget HD}
Dec 24th 2007 10:57AM I spoke to someone at Comcast after I "emailed Rick" and was told the city would get these channels in mid-January. Someone else noticed that the lineup for DC ZIP codes has already been updated at www.comcast.com (not tvplanner, though). I'd say a few more weeks' patience will be rewarded! :)
FCC gets around to proposing fines for E911 misses {Engadget Mobile}
Sep 9th 2007 11:24PM I know it isn't necessarily fair to compare apples to cucumbers (or whatever produce you fancy) but CBS was fined $550,000 for the Janet Jackson booby incident. Seems to me that the FCC is saying one booby is about as bad 10% of a company's cell users not being locatable in an emergency. I don't buy it.

Jul 1st 2007 11:27PM I promise not to wear it as a belt buckle. But I would love to have a better mobile browser (even if it is slow). I'm tired of the watered down browser on the VZW phones.
Schools ditching laptop programs en masse {Engadget}
May 4th 2007 10:05AM Thank goodness they came to their senses. This is clear to anyone who attended any college class in the last five years...why anyone thought high school (or younger) kids would be more responsible with the technology has always befuddled me.
