Live in Canada? Have a lot of games? Get a PS3 for $400! {PS3 Fanboy}
Apr 16th 2007 11:31AM I actually just took advantage of this offer yesterday. For a 1st gen XBOX, 2 controllers, 5 decent games and 7 crappy ones, EB Games (Gamestop) got me a PS3 for $440 CDN after tax. I was very happy. As a long time 360 user, I was getting the PS3 for the Blu-ray mostly, but I can say that I really like the interface as a whole. Very clean and sharp. The online store seems a little computer orientated navigation wise, but the XMB is very well done.
So if you have old crappy systems and games you're not doing anything with, trade up and save a tonne of money. However, check your items on Ebay, as you could probably get more money from them than from EB. I had to convince the manager to upgrade the value of some of my games (all games under $8 value were made to be $10). If you have the patience to wait for them to be sold on Ebay you will probably make more. EB/Gamestop will definitely give you less. Having said that, I was pretty happy with my experience yesterday.
Dean asks: What makes HDMI so great? {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Mar 28th 2007 5:44PM Since I live in Canada, I could care less about the 120gb hard drive, since we have no HD downloads (other than that free episode of South Park, which I loved). I could care less that it's black (especially when the HDDVD drive is staying white). I do care about HDMI. Normally I wouldn't, but when the HDDVD drive only does 1080i over component for movies...yeah I care. As much as I love my 360, this seems like an oversight, esp. when they knew about the impending copy-restrictions/resolution downgrading. HDMI is an overpriced and overhyped interface, but when the content providers make it the only interface to get 1080p out of (when it happens), what choice do I have but to play ball? Now if only it didn't cost US$479 for me to get that one port.
P.S. I realize the obvious answer is to get a PS3 for movies, but as there are exclusive titles for both HDDVD and BluRay, I don't consider that an option.
It's alive! GRAW 2 official site is up {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Feb 16th 2007 9:27AM I liked the original Graw....until I played Vegas. What a huge difference a multiplayer cover system makes. I find it hard to believe that the soldier of tomorrow won't hide behind walls or rocks or such when trying to capture a flag, or bunker or such. Silly silly silly. I don't understand how Ubisoft can maintain a full cover system in Vegas, and not pull it off in GRAW? No PEC? Ooooh, but I get a drone to fly overhead you say? Give me multiplayer cover, PEC and no more Hendrix cover songs and I will come back to you my beloved first 360 series. For now though, I'm going to leave the soldier of tomorrow who can't cover for the kickass soldier of today who can.

Worms to cost 1200 points or less, um, yay? {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Jan 4th 2007 3:21PM Wow...1200MS points for one of my favourite games ever. I have those points ready and waiting. If it's only 800 I'll just ahve to save those 400 extra ones for some extra content.

Splinter Cell: Dynamic Advertising Agent {Xbox 360 Fanboy}
Oct 30th 2006 11:54AM I think that (most) dynamic in game ads are fine, and actually help add a level of realism. As long as it doesn't get in the way of gameplay, I have no problems with my fav developers (read: not EA) making some extra scratch back. But I can see the issue with different ads for different players affecting gameplay. So make all the ads the same, even if it means going for more universal advertisers and less localized results.
On road and need docs from your PC? New DeskFinder for BlackBerry may help {BBHub}
Oct 24th 2006 1:35PM A much better (and for now free-er) option is Soonr. I've been using it in beta for a while now, and it is a very sleek, unbloated application for remote searching and emailing of attachments. I really appreciate the thumbnail file viewing, as well as the ability to restrict searching to specific folders. The most notable feature for a (soon) to be released WiFi Blackberry is the remote Skype access.
