TomTom's iPhone car kit and navigation software priced overseas {Engadget}
Aug 6th 2009 1:35PM $194? Bwaaaaahhaaaaa ha ha ha ha ha ha.......
I was thinking maybe $50 for the software - after all it's not as useful as a stand-alone device given that it keeps you from using the iphone for anything else at the same time. This from a guy who has owned 4 gps, many smartphones and tends to buy any interesting gadget - heck, I've thought about picking up a tom-tom just so I could have John Cleese's voice giving me directions. This is just absurd. Tom Tom might as well pack it up and walk away.
Rambus drops patent suit against NVIDIA Update: only part of it {Engadget}
Jun 9th 2009 12:15PM Patent squatting? you mean, except for the xdr-dram memory in every PS3 and the 94% of the Cell (and Cell derivative) chip-to-chip interconnects that use licensed rambus technology? The only one squatting is another hater in his underwear at his keyboard spewing misinformation for his peers.

Kings: Goliath (series premiere) {TV Squad}
Mar 16th 2009 12:40AM Too bad NBC took the idea of "event tv" too seriously and has not scheduled a rerun of the first show before the second one - it's not like their schedule is chock full of can't-miss programming either. I would have given it a chance, but having forgotten it started tonight apparently NBC doesn't want me as a viewer (and no - a 7 inch flash video window is not how I'll try a new big picture action drama). Hey guys, you know those cable networks who have been out-programming you for years? They'll be around long after iptv has left you a distant memory. How many times does hbo run a new show before the second ep runs? Four, maybe five times - you have to WANT to miss it.

Psion says it's only going after those "profiting" from the term netbook {Engadget}
Dec 29th 2008 8:18AM Actually, it's section 230 of the CDA that protects them here, but yes, blogs who host netbook ads are fully protected.
Logitech serves one-billionth mouse {Engadget}
Dec 3rd 2008 9:19AM And yet they still refuse to update the trackman - a few more buttons, better tracking, new materials, refined design - not too much to ask for after 10 years but logitech prefers to see its' long time customers as a nuisance, not an asset. Yes, I have had many logitech peripherals over the years, but not an ounce of loyalty, because they have shown none. The second someone comes out with a better product in any area that I use theirs, I will switch without a second thought.
The squeezebox is a great example, I'm going with an itunes/touch/airport combo instead (even though I don't use a mac) of sb, because I know I can count on apple to continually update the product , while I expect logitech to milk the original sb dry and then go on to something different as they have again, and again and again.
Fine engineers, crap management.

Nov 19th 2008 10:15AM Ok, so I have the m16 with the touch screen, now what software do I use to have it control my HVAC, lighting, shades, av system when I embed it in the wall - ok, fine, I'll need a ir blaster and an hvac interface - but where is the software?
SlingCatcher gets unboxed, our hearts beat ever faster {Engadget}
Oct 7th 2008 1:29PM samirss, are you saying this thing can take protected video from your pc and output it, unprotected, so that your TV can play it??? because it you are, I'm suddenly quite interested. However, the downranked op has a point, if this is just effectively a upnp client with tv outputs, the ps3 can do that too.
Frankly I'd be shocked if it could do the former - unless it's SD quality only.
Verizon promises increased interactivity for FiOS TV customers {Engadget}
Sep 20th 2008 7:43AM I've just bought a house in fios territory, am a prime customer for their 250/mo everything package but they won't be getting a dime because a) they massively decontented the touch pro, forcing me to buy an iPhone last month and switch myself ( and the three other phones on the account) off verizon for the first time in 10 years. They could have at least gotten me for tv/Internet but now I find they have no scifi-hd (hell, I find out that they have fewer hd channels than the gimppy rcn I've been using. So it's directtv (And the NFL pack!) for me. Amazing how a business strategy that depends upon penetration is so intently driving away potential customers.
