T-Mobile nabs HTC's Touch HD2, schedules release for November {Engadget}
Nov 2nd 2009 10:45AM Maybe change the title of the post to indicate this is for the UK so as to not get the primarily US audience here all worked up?
More on the DROID: thoughts from the rest of Engadget {Engadget}
Oct 31st 2009 12:40AM I use voice & data at the same time every once in a while, so that's enough to keep me from going to a CDMA network.
I also use Skype a lot and there's no full-featured Skype app for Android (yet?), so that's enough to keep me from going to an Android phone.
If/when someone comes out with a full-featured Skype client for Android, then I'd consider going for a UMTS/HSPA Android phone.
AT&T now allowing iPhone VoIP calls over 3G {Engadget Mobile}
Oct 6th 2009 7:59PM If only the Skype iPhone app were a little more robust, I'd be a bit more excited. I get dropped calls with a pretty solid wifi signal. I can't imagine it'd do particularly better over 3G.
HTC HD2 hands-on and impressions... on video! {Engadget}
Oct 6th 2009 7:55PM I had a Tilt that was falling apart and absolutely needed to be replaced, and the Tilt2 wasn't out yet so I went and got a 3GS. I'm by no means an Apple fanboy--I miss the status bar notifications, easy tethering, and free Bing turn-by-turn GPS of WinMo--but I've become a capacitive screen convert. So if there's no Windows jailbreak for the 3GS (which would allow me to do these things) by the time the HTC gets around to releasing an HSPA 850/1900 version of the HD2, I'll be standing towards the front of the line.
HTC Touch Pro2 graces Verizon on September 11 {Engadget Mobile}
Sep 5th 2009 1:44PM Yeah seriously, AT&T are dragging their feet on this one.
Systemax relaunches Circuit City's website, this time with feeling {Engadget}
May 24th 2009 11:18AM Seems like Systemax figures there are enough people who haven't heard of Tiger Direct but are still searching for CompUSA and/or Circuit City, so for relatively little cost they get all those people to buy stuff from them instead of never surfing over to Tiger Direct.
California girl claims to have burned through over 300,000 texts in a single month {Engadget Mobile}
May 8th 2009 12:38AM She's so popular she's rocking the original non-3g iPhone.
Who cares how/if she accomplished it? Let's all look down our collective noses at someone who would do something so absurd as sending 300k+ texts. As opposed to say, commenting in a blog post that links to an article about someone sending 300k+ texts.
Oops.
Review: 2009 Mazda6 s Grand Touring {Autoblog}
Mar 26th 2009 8:55PM I drive an '06 Mazdaspeed6. I don't think I would consider buying a current 6s GT. It's too big. Which is exactly what will help Mazda sell a bunch more of them than the last go-round. I figure people looking for the same family-sedan goodness of the Accord/Camry/Altima/Sonata/Malibu outnumber car nerds such as myself by a fair margin.
FCC approves LTE gear from LG, WiMAX says 'welcome to the party' {Engadget Mobile}
Mar 19th 2009 8:44AM I'm pretty sure Metro PCS and Cricket also bought up a fair share of 1700 MHz spectrum as well. There's been a steady stream of low-end CDMA phones with a 1700 MHz band for a while now.
Two Olympus Micro Four Thirds cameras rumored for soonish release {Engadget}
Jan 29th 2009 2:48PM I hope these cameras have the same sensor and processor as the Panasonic G1. It took Pansonic a good long time of making overly noisy sensors processors to finally figure out how to do well. The review of the Panasonic G1 on dpreview looks pretty encouraging from an image quality standpoint. Their verdict was the G1 is about on par with the Canon Rebel XSi at all but the highest ISO setting. Like others here have mentioned though, the G1 seems to imitate an SLR shape when the micro 4/3 format seems ideally suited to the more rangefinder-like shape presented here. I've had plenty of big SLR outfits over the years and while they're fine if you're not moving around too much, it is no fun lugging around a big camera bag on vacation. If the image quality is there, then put me on the list as very interested!
