Feb 25th 2008 3:06PM Thank you sholt for the correct math.
@45 MB/s write you get 4.51 years
@100 MB/s you get a measly 2.03 years.
Granted, given average use, you would still end up with far more than that. These minimum calculations equate to rewriting the entire contents of the drive every 23.7 minutes @ 45 MB/s or every 10.67 minutes at 100 MB/s for its entire lifespan (this also shows you how fast these things are).

Jan 29th 2008 11:08AM I for one cannot wait for Motorola to drop out of the cellphone business. Starting with the Razr (and perhaps earlier) their phones have just been poor quality.

Jan 23rd 2008 9:48AM I guess I'll put my 2 cents in.
For years we have been willing drones for the phone companies here in the US, taking their abuse and asking for more as if we enjoyed it. It seems criminal to me to charge for both ends of the message (sending AND receiving.
I think our government should step in and pass legislation that restricts the carriers to only charging for sending messages. You send me junk, great, it doesn't cost me.

Jan 20th 2008 8:20PM What evidence do you have that at&t doesn't modify their bluetooth stacks? I coulsn't get my phone to tether until I got a data tethering plan ($70/month), than it magically works. (at&t, blackberry 8820)

Oct 15th 2007 8:34PM @ Chris G.
"So you think the US marketplace will bear the full cost of mobile devices? Would you pay $550 for a Piece of Crap RAZR? No carrier is going to give you a free phone without the benefit of the lock."
What are you smoking? the locking does not affect the carriers true bottom line of the phone cost, after all locked or not I am stuck on 2 year (or other length) contract with the carrier and so they get their money, locking the phone just makes it more difficult for me to switch and keep my old phone. That is where I consider device locking (and crippling) unethical (and I believe should be illegal).
Know Your Rights: Is it illegal to unlock my iPhone? {Engadget}
Aug 25th 2007 11:56PM To backup g512 and straighten out everyone's fanboy ranting, here are laws you may want to consider:
DMCA = Legal to modify firmware (copyright)
FCC = The damn phone is (of course) FCC licensed and as such ANY modification must be FCC approved or the modification is illegal.
So there you have it, it IS illegal to mod your phone due to FCC laws even though the DMCA says you are not violatting copyright laws.
