Bill Gates wipes away tears at Microsoft farewell {Engadget}

Jun 27th 2008 4:20PM Of course he got choked up! I mean, honest, I'm just one of the people whose lives he's affected, and *I'm* getting choked up thinking about the significance of the day.

It's been said on every post about him for the day, but it'll never be too much: Thanks Bill, for everything.

Except maybe persuading Ballmer to stay. ;)

Microsoft, then and now {Engadget}

Jun 26th 2008 7:36AM Dang. Engadget, please fix your comment system. Pretty please??

And I'm glad to see Highest Ranked back, by the way.

Jun 26th 2008 7:34AM You guys *do* realize that Bill G. never actually said that 640kb of memory will be enough for everyone, right?? That's just an urban legend that still holds momentum. I think even Snopes proved that one false. . . Either way, wherever it came from, it wasn't from Bill.

I hope he enjoys his retirement, and his philanthropy. The man's done his part, and then some. :)

Ben Heck does it again with Atari 7800 portable {Engadget}

Jun 19th 2008 9:51AM I think you meant "faze", not "phase", Paul.

Grammar aside, Ben Heck is seriously a legend. He had me at the Xbox 360 Laptop.

Sony Ericsson's Paris phone gets demoed in video {Engadget}

May 30th 2008 10:18AM supermeekrat (I'll take it to mean you didn't wanna type meerkat)

Congratulations - you got it! That's precisely the point.

My generation has to be the dumbest one yet, and Paris Hilton is the epitome of it. While I have tried my level best to abstain from the things that people nowadays find fascinating and interesting, it's impossible to hide completely. Hence: Paris: Hilton.

Oh well. At least we're not a total loss. I'm part of this generation too. :D

May 30th 2008 8:48AM Sigh. The trouble of being a part of this generation is that whenever you hear "Paris", you invariably think "Hilton".

Anyway, this doesn't look too bad at all. But the phone I'm currently waiting to see out and about is the Xperia. Good stuff coming from SE.

Sigh. I wish there really was some way to optimize the internet like that.

DeviceVM's Splashtop comes to ASUS laptops as Express Gate {Engadget}

May 29th 2008 12:09PM Yes but you see, not everyone likes to leave their systems running 24x7, if only to save energy (be nice) and thus, save on electric bills (be practical). As little power as may be consumed in sleep mode, it's still more than zero. Plus, basically, most people DO turn off their computers when they're not using them.
Also, there's no question of turning off your computer and rebooting to use this. This isn't anything special; this is basically just key programs that you'd like to have quick access to when your computer's being turned on. If you're already booted in, you can simply do whatever you want within your OS.

In any case, if it came down to it, I'd rather have a computer WITH this, than without.
