iPhone overheats while docked, fight for replacement begins {Engadget Mobile}

Apr 3rd 2008 9:41AM Three months without activating? And suddenly he was going to "activate" it and NOW it burns up? Hmmm... I smell jailbreak. :P

Apple seems to have been treating iphone customers good so far, at least here in the states. Hopefully they'll take care of this guy as well.

XPERIA X1 shows AT&T graphic at CeBIT -- what could it possibly mean? {Engadget Mobile}

Mar 6th 2008 9:41AM Do you remember the original listed cost of the Kaiser? And then what the Tilt actually cost at the time of launch? Somehow, devices that seem overly expensive at first always seem to find their way down to a reasonable cost by the time carriers are releasing them.

If it comes to AT&T, I'll definitely take a look at it as a replacement to my Tilt. I've always liked Sony Ericsson and have loved HTC (current chipset driver issues aside) since my 8125/Wizard. Combine the two companies and I think I could be sold.

16GB iPhone just around the corner? {Engadget Mobile}

Feb 5th 2008 11:17AM Comfirmed. $499.99 for the 16 GB iPhone at AT&T. Some stores even have them in stock today.

AT&T's "Tilt" Kaiser variation spotted in the wild {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 28th 2007 6:36PM Every company wants to make money. But this phone's GPS will NOT be locked. Neither was the Blackberry 8800's, nor the Ipaq 6515's, nor will the new Curve's, the Backjack 2's, etc.

Phones are locked to carrier. Hardware, as a rule, generally is not. Unless you're talking about Verizon's bluetooth, of course...

AT&T's "Tilt" Kaiser variation spotted in the wild {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 28th 2007 2:55PM "Me", you're right that I may have incorrect when I assumed the that Engadget was insinuating that "not getting Tom Tom" meant not being able to USE Tom Tom. On second read, they may have just meant Tom Tom is not included in the box.

But that seems to be the popular (and unnecessary) debate... whether AT&T will cripple the GPS to only use Telenav. As far as I can remember, I've never noticed AT&T taking a perfectly usable device and crippling it. Yes they removed the front camera on the 8525 as well as the Tilt. But the price for the Hermes and Tytyn II is always a few hundred more than the AT&T devices, even without contract discount. You get what you pay for, but I don't think I need the front camera enough to pay $200 for it.

So my apologies to Engadget if I misread your no-Tom-Tom statement.

Sep 28th 2007 11:41AM Get Telenav does NOT mean you CAN'T get Tom Tom. Get Telenav means exactly that... you can get and use Telenav on it. I would venture to bet a month's salary that the GPS will not be locked. The option to use one software does not mean there is no option to use another, Engadget. You should know that!

Tilt, Duo, Inferno, and Q9h to blow out AT&T's October? {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 12th 2007 7:55AM I've always thought the $299.99 price tag on the Kaiser/Tilt was a bit optimistic. Now the question is... will AT&T actually try to put the phone out at that price since some people are expecting it?

Then again, when the Blackjack was released, I never thought it would be below $199.99 (which it is definitely worth), yet it's been as low as 75 bucks at one point!

I don't care what the price is (within reason), my 8525 WILL be replaced by the Kaiser.
