Smedley Station Cash Rollout pt. 2 {Massively}
Dec 12th 2008 1:24PM In the beginning EQ2 was a nice immersive escape into a wonderful fantasy world. Real world and non-game related intrusions were minimal.
LoN came out and there was a card game within the game. Not a big deal...except for the SPAM messages from the System Admins for every weekend tournament in LoN over and over and over again. And there was no OPTING out.
Now this...the real world sneaking into the game again, where you can spend money to get things within the game. Everytime you see some cool armor on someone else now...is it the result of some epic adventure that character did? Or did he just swipe his visa card? Did he work hard and quest and level and just DING? Or should you congratulate him by saying CHA-CHING?
And how long until more governments start taxing the in game purchases too? Massively seems to think it's coming.
Too many real world intrusions into my nice little fantasy world. Well...it WAS mine. It is not any longer.
Nokia switching up strategy to boost US market share {Engadget Mobile}
May 2nd 2008 8:52AM When are carriers going to realize that designing the phones and software and hardware is NOT their area of expertise?
Every Rogers phone I have gotten with Rogers software and branding on it has been a complete joke. Buttons that have a function no longer work because the new Rogers software ignores them. Buggy software that crashes. Phones that are restricted from doing things that the same phone without Rogers software can do. And UI's that are horrible...and NON-customizable because Ted likes the colour red.
Nokia designs great phones and is an expert in it...let them do the work they know how and carriers go back to doing what they know. (Screwing people out of gobs of cash through marketing)
Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart Version R Special: Now with SUPER STIFFNESS {Autoblog}
Apr 24th 2008 8:47AM Sometimes I wonder WHO is actually deciding what to sell in North America. Is it the CONSUMERS? Or the freaking dealers? The phrases "there is no market" or "north american's don't want" seem to be thrown around way too much.
Between European cars getting watered down into North American cars with euro names (Aka Saab 9-3) and cars that never show up here because the dealers would rather sell large high-profit barges and suv's...I think the car companies have lost sight of WHO is the customer here.
it's US dammit!
VW to campaign Scirocco in 24-hour 'Ring race {Autoblog}
Apr 18th 2008 3:51PM So they wont bring this over to North America because it might take sales away from the GTI???
I wouldn't be caught dead in a City... Golf... Rabbit...Jetta. They might as well be called the same thing anyway...stylingwise they are just different configurations of the same exact design.
The Scirocco actually has some of it's own style and I would look at it for sure. Oh well...I'll just go back to ignoring VW.
Nokia: mobile TV success is a little harder than we thought {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 16th 2008 1:42PM TV is dead. Almost dead to me. Not interested in watching normal tv at all. The ONLY thing I am interested in getting in real-time is sports. Everything else I would prefer to record and watch WHEN I want. That means...NOT TV. Rather it should be all recorded video.
My train ride home is 22 minutes. I watch one half hour episode of something every ride home...on my Nokia N810...and it's on MY schedule. TV has their schedule and almost never matches mine.
Welcome to the MP4 age Nokia...you would do well to catch up.
BMW still mulling selling engines to competitors {Autoblog}
Apr 3rd 2008 8:21AM "as what makes a BMW an Ultimate Driving Machine is much more than just what's driving it underhood."
I don't know about this comment. You might think that, but definitely some other people might see it differently. How many times have you heard things like..."That Lexus is just a Toyota with leather?"...or "The Mini is just an overpriced retro hatchback with a Neon engine"?
Will some people make a similar connection and say "Why would I buy a bangle butt BMW when I can have the same engine in my stylish Saturn 325i?"

Mar 3rd 2008 1:57PM Please please please T-Mobile, come to Canada and save us from the evil that is Rogers and bring your european GSM goodness with you too.

Mossberg howls: "Free My Phone" {Engadget}
Oct 22nd 2007 10:27AM Sure they want to pay $50 or get a free phone but they end up paying for it in the end by paying more for their service. Sure you don't have to spend $300 for a phone at once...but what does it cost you in the long run?
